Here's a great writeup by a better-than-average journalist.

Excellent photos Batchy! Thanks for posting them.
I note the formation T/O of two Mustangs (at least I assume it was T/O, as there's no flaps) - in the light of what happened in Oshkosh in July this year, perhaps there is an argument for not allowing close formation T/O & landing.
Just a thought.

A final few shots headed by a photo of Lee Lauderback, President of of Stallion 51. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Lee and all his 'Gathering' team for devising and producing such a memorable event.

Not Formation Landing.
Hi, Saab Bastard. Having witnessed the fatal accident at Oshkosh with the Mustangs, {the FAA still have my video} I can assure you that the accident was NOT a formation landing, The pilots of the two aircraft involved were unaware of each others position, and the pilot who lost his life literally virtually descended onto the other one, albeit to it's left, without ever having seen it.

Anybody stay for the Sunday balbo ?

Thanks eveybody for all the kind comments.
Paper Tiger;
I was expecting 51 Mustangs to fly on the Sunday as was rumoured but unfortunately there was just a repeat of the formation '51' that occurred on the Saturday. By the end of the day several Mustangs were already heading for home.
