RAF serials

Is there an online resource that matches aircraft to serial numbers? I want to avoid investing in a weighty and dry Air Britain tome just to trace one serial number.

Thanks

Skua

Try this one
http://www.ukserials.com/
Or you could try typing the serial number or registration in a Google search

This site might help you - only goes from WA*** onwards though, which I think is about from 1950...
