Seems the US military were serious about there approach to the disposal of retired F14's

Well, when they was friends if ours (pre-1979) the Yanks sold the Iranians (the Shah) F-14s, So I'm gamboling around the assumption that the Cousins do not want any ex-USN F-14 parts heading Tehran-wards...

They want to destroy them because Iran might get their hands on the parts?
