Discovering details of military crash

Not too sure where to post this so will try here.

I'm trying to find details of relative of mine who was killed in a military plane crash in the UK in about mid 1940's to mid 1950's. Sorry I can't be more specific but my family don't talk to each other very much so even getting these details has been a real labour! I believe he was the pilot and it probably happened in the UK as my great Aunt was watching at the time. His name was Roy MacIntosh and he came from the Southampton area. Any ideas as to how to find out more information please? Either post here or PM me if you wish.

Thanks very much
