Venezuelan Mirage Crash 21st June 2007

Dear Forum Members
Sad News
Fatal FAV Mirage Crash.
http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/...lane-Crash.php
CARACAS, Venezuela: A Venezuelan air force fighter plane crashed Thursday and its sole occupant, the pilot, died after ejecting himself.
The French-made Mirage 50 plummeted to the ground during a routine training flight near the Libertador air force base in central Aragua state, President Hugo Chavez said during a speech in the presidential palace.
Chavez indicated the crash was due to some "defects" but did not elaborate.
Capt. Juan Manuel Aldao managed to eject himself from the plane but did not survive, Chavez said.
"This afternoon we lost a pilot and with great pain we have to say: during a routine mission," Chavez said. "Capt. Juan Manuel Aldao ... has died fulfilling his duties."
Chavez said the pilot is survived by his wife and a 1-year-old son.
