Canberra PR9, where are they
Firstly hello
Secondly.
I am an ex 39 squadron rigger who worked on T4s PR7s and PR9s, now they have been decommisioned I was wondering where the PR9s have gone?
I am aware that 3 flew into a civvy base but where? and where are the other two?
Tail numbers are
XH131
XH134
XH135
XH168
XH169
and where are the T4s
WH849 (which I flew in)
WJ874 (marked up as VN799)
Thanks

Speechless Two
Thanks, I tracked 874 down on Atlantiques website I also heard one was going to be a gate guard at Marham which might explain XH169 or XH168. 168s shell must be somewhere and still don`t know which one is ear marked for gate guard and whats happening to 31 34 and 35 that are at Kemble.
I know about XH168 being damaged

Canberras
Slightly off thread..............there used to be a Canberra B2 parked outside the safety equipment manufacturer at Godalming, Surrey (RFD).
It looked a bit sad when I last saw it many years ago. Is it still there ?

Canberra B.2 WH657 at the RFD factory in Godalming, Surrey, moved to Brenzett, Kent by May 1987, where it can still be found.
Thanks to W&R 11th edition 1988.

The last PR9's
XH131 and 135 were bought by Nigel Spurr who has now sold them to Mike Davis who purchased 134.
Dont know what Mikes intentions are but when looking into the costs to fly again, its very expensive in respect of clearing the maintenance and airworthiness issues and thats before you get to insurance. Say goodbye to 6 figures per aircraft.
So, unless something comes up that will allow the aircraft to recoup that sort of investment, I would guess that they will stay at Kemble for a while yet unless there is a Lottery winner out there who gets the hots for one of them!
