I was out there three weeks ago on business and I had a tour of the airport (Pafos) with the assistant manager. The two complete shacks are stationed at the far end of Runway, along with the Flamant (sp?) The assistant manager isn't sure what's going to happen, but they're safe for the moment (if completely out of the public's eye) Where they were resting is now a very large hole in the ground where the new taxi rank is going to go (approximately)
The third shack is in pieces airside at Pafos, along with a Jet Provost and some civilian types. They're also owned by the same guy who owns the Shacks an are in a yard next to his hangar - again, it's not clear what's going to happen to them at the moment.
FYI, you can see the Jet Provost/parted Shack using Google Earth (34 42'52.17' N 32 28'40.97' E)

If I remember correctly, the gentleman who bought the 2 flyers also bought Dodo, the flightless airframe (half fuselage) 8 Sqn used as a flight simulator.
As for the third Shack, I meant the one at the old airport.....if its still there, its been untouched a very long time.

'Dodo' must be the one in pieces. If I remember correctly there was most of the fuselage from the nose back to about the rear of the wings and 2/3 engine cowlings. I didn't get chance to take any photos unfortunately.
As for the 'old airport' I did hear stories of another Shack on the fire dump at Larnaka - the other airport on the Greek side of the island. There's an old twin engined Beech on the fire dump at present - absolutely no sign of a Shackleton though. Guess it was burnt up
I did press for info on the Pafos pair. I didn't get much - but their fate is looking quite positive

There is/was another Shack in Cyprus:
XF700 MKIII, the remants of this airframe are still at Nicosia Airport. Well they were a few months ago. It's little more than a shell now. The Shack Assoc newletter "The Growler" had a picture of some squaddies stting on the front a few issues ago.

Sorry to revive an old thread but a couple of the lads from work had a day wondering around Nicosia airport and bought me back a piece of that Shackleton. They have no idea what part it is but it's got a serial number and A/c type stamped on it.
Are there any squadrons that would want a piece for a crew room? I'll happily post it out as the wife wants me to get rid, I've got "Enough aircraft crap" as it is.

Enough left of it to help other projects! I could do with the scanner jacks for WR963 if they're still in it... and a number of other bits. Does anybody know who I would have to speak to at Nicosia?
As to WL747/WL757/Dodo, my last contact with Paphos said the Shackletons are staying put.
