Cairo was used by Imperial Airways on their route to India from 1926/7 and it has been an Imperial Airways/BOAC/BA destination more or less continuously ever since, except for short periods in WW2, Suez and other times of conflict.
Imperial Airways started their service from Cairo to Basra in December 1926.The connection from the European end came with a Genoa to Alexandria flying boat service in March 1929.
