Sqn Ldr Eric Foster - great escapee - RIP

'Just heard that Sqn Ldr Eric Foster has died aged 102, last week.

I did a search but found no other mention of him on the forums.

He inspired several of the characters in the film - The Great Escape. Steve McQueen's part was partly based on him. I had only vaguely heard of him before, but will search out the biography now. Must've had some great tales to tell.
