Lightning flight line photo's query

I have a query please concerning the above. Whilst there are plenty of shots of the beast in the air, does anybody have any ( or a source ) that shows them on the ground on a typical line ie, including all the bits and pieces that were associated with daily operations rather than a nice pristine line shot for AOC's etc ?.

I would also be interested in any shots of the now very old AEC 3000galls fuel bowsers if any are floating around.

I do have a reason or two behind these apparently obscure questions which is that a friend of mine wishes to do a painting of both--I have described the line to him which was easy , but clearly any shots will help him with the content more than my description of fuel drenched pans and knackered Houchins etc.

All and any ideas welcomed. Thanks

There is I recall an absolute beauty of 74 Squadron's Lightnings lined up. It was a cracker. Perhaps someone has it to show us.

IIRC I recall the credits are to Martin Bee.

On second thoughts, it DOES look a bit too neat!

MUCH more like it - my old Squadron, credits to Ed Durham.

Absolutely BOAC. Martin it was. Knew him quite well and he performed so well in 74's aeros team.

Later went to Laker an flew the 707 I seem to remember. Lost track of him but the last I heard he was in NZ.

That is the line-up I remember! Good to see it again.

This shot may help. 56 Sqn in Cyprus.

No idea who took it, found it on the web, so if it's yours, thanks.

Really interesting pic though.

No 19 Squadron line up ten F2s and one T4 on the apron at Leconfield on 23 September 1965, prior to moving to RAF Gutersloh:-

Plenty of ground equipment here - No 226 OCU, Coltishall:-

Just to say a Big Thanks to all who have responded with some great shots

I am informed that the artist now has enough info. concerning the G / Equip etc for a normal line operation.

BOAC,
Have to say the shot of sunny Leuchars looks the more realistic

As for the one of 19 at Leconfield---last time I saw 19 / 92 's line at Gut. the beasts didn't look quite as pristine--neither did the line come to that Shame they all ended up as decoy's scattered around RAFG especially 92's "P" as I spent 10 months of my tour at Bruggen up at Gut. repairing the thing after it broke the left leg on landing.

PPRuNePop:

I'm not sure that Martin was on the 707 with Laker but he was certainly on the DC-10. We flew together on several occasions and he was the smartest F/O I'd seen in a very long time. We also did the the DC-10 the American way after Laker collapsed.

He then went to the Dubai Royal Flight and was flying Gulfstreams when we used to occasionally meet for an ale in 1984/85. He was in Dubai for quite a few years.

There is a site called Lightningpilots.org or similar. Lots of candid pics there, though I have mysteriously lost the bookmark. Google it up.
