Great stuff!

Interesting that the Bestmann carries a swastika - I thought such things were now banned in Germany - certainly the two or three WWII Luftwaffe kits in my collection have the artwork altered on the box, and the relevant decals removed from the sheet. Do you recall if the 110 carried one as well?

PP Radar,

Being pedantic, wasn't the Buccaneer built by Blackburn?
Being really pedantic then ... it was originally designed by Blackburn (who were absorbed by HS in 1960) and they did build some examples, but the aircraft you see in the pic was built by HS in 1966

I say, V ATCO, you forgot the names again!

Wouldn't you just love to see some of them back in the air. Some years ago was offered the Bestmann that was in Frankfurt Airport Museum, but having arranged to meet up with the man to talk about it, he then failed to show up. Grrrr...

Although 'twould probably have been exhorbitantly expensive to restore.

TD&H, just waht I was thinking. The pretty little Arado at the top, D-EMVT flew with Lufthansa for a while recently and appeared at Flying Legends several years ago, but I think it was already planned to be her last voyage before being interred in the museum.

Lovely pics, V ATCO. Cheers!

OK Treadders

Which aeroplane should we steal (sorry, long term borrow )? Then get flying again?

Unless you know of another source for a nice old machine from somewhere that it won't be missed, and won't cost zillions to get back into the air.

Treadders, I thought that by 'borrowing' only one then it might not be noticed! And we could have chosen one with a realistic chance of us affording to get her airworthy!

Alright then if you're going to be greedy, with your list give indications of costs and effort to make each airworthy. PLUS more importantly, your source of wealth to carry out the work!! (You can pm me with this last detail, no need to let the others into our secret )

Cough, sorry, got distracted by an invitation for a lunchtime drink... Speaking of which PPP, I saw your missive; I will try and head over you way week after next...

Right here's my attempt based on nothing but a fecund imagination:

First batch:

1 - We all know that one!
2 - No idea but it's very pretty - an Arado perhaps?
3 - I reckon it's part (or a replica) of a Ju288?
4 - Bucker Jungmann
5 - No idea
6 - Something by Lilienthal?
7 - Looks familiar but any pretence at fecundity proved infertile (eh?)
8 - See No 6
9 - Klemm Kl-107 (or a Bolkow 207)
10 - Rheine Flug B-thingumnyjig (but the DNA is something like Bergfalke glider?)
11 - Storch - well you all knew that...
12 - Bucker Bestmann
13 - A VI and a Godknowswhat...
14 - Me110 and Fokker Steiglitz
15 - Me108 (or a Nord 1002)

Second batch:

1 - Arado ( I think a 75?)
2 - me109
3 - MiG 15 (or a 17? My MiG knowledge is shaky...)
4 - Hmmmm, I'll bet its flight characteristics are interesting
5 - Ju-52
6 - Dassault Flamant
7 - A Klemm...
8 - Another Klemm (well it says so...)
9 - Ditto
10 - Perhaps a Halberstadt?
11 - It's that Dak again!
12 - Perhaps another Halberstadt - if TD&H and I can only liberate one, that's the one I want - and I'll bet he'll pick something else...
13 - Me109
14 - Sabredog...

Well that’s the voting from Croydon - now I stand to be corrected on most!

Sorry, just belatedly read TD&H's last post - I plead poverty mate! I thought YOU were the one with the money... Do you think Heather McCartney-Mills might look my way once she's got her settlement from Macca?

Most of them way over my head! [Figuratively speaking!]. However,

Batch 1 No 3 I reckon is the engine/gear part of FW200 Condor [the unusual leg config gives it away].

Batch 1 No 12 I reckon is a ME108.

Batch 2 No 3 is a Mig15.

IMHO

PPP, please stop doing that to your head, you'll hurt yourself!

Treadders I'll agree to the Halberstadt, can we base it at Shuttleworth as a replacement for the LVG the RAF museum stole back? But would you mind adding one of the Buckers as a treat for me? I'll have the aeroplane(s) you can have misery guts HMM.

I admire those who can recognise and name all these types, perhaps it shows I'm not too much of an anorack. However I do feel that this museum is well worth the visit, must find time to get there, and consider this thread an excellent guide to where to go visiting. Thanks.

Nogbad - great pics.

What is the second a/c with the inverted gullwing and the jet with 'Glynco' painted on port side ?

Not to Nogbad - per the Berlin pics which are fabulous and I have to get there to see sometime - I thought that display of the swastika was illegal in Germany.
Obviously this has changed. Could someone fill me in ?

Dont have pics but the aviation museum outside of Beijing near Badaling is VG if anyone has pics.

BTW French 'La Goudale' beer is VG on a crappy hot HK sunday arvo when one can't sail ones yacht wot......what a f..kwit comment. good beer though

It is a Douglas BTD-1 'Destroyer' SN: 04959 REG: N7035U. A similar aircraft is being restored at the National Warplane Museum Elmira New York.
It was not a great success. In 1944 some 28 aircraft were built. The programme was doomed as competive designs were anticipated to have superior performance. and the US Navy cancelled the BTD-1 contract and the last aircraft was delivered on the 8th October 1945.
