Hope you got some responses because I'm looking forward to the book..
Back when I was training on radar at Bournemouth in 1971 we used to take turns to fly as safety pilots in the CAFU Dove which flew back and forth to provide our training. It was usually a CAFU CAptain but one day I had the pleasure of flying with a "locum"... can't remember his name other than "John" but he was an ex-BOAC Strat Captain. It was a revelation flying with him.. watching him get the engines exactly in sync so there was no vibration. I wonder if he's still about - must be in his 90s by now.
Then, of course, there was O P Jones....
