A question about Deke Slayton - Mercury thru Apollo

Just a question for a presentation.

Deke Slayton was Head of the Astronaut Corps at NASA for several years.
How is his (nick?)name pronounced?

Is it "Dee-Kay" or "Deek"?

It's pronounced "Deek". D K are his initials.
