Antilles Air Boats Short Sandringham, Help.

Dear All, can anyone help me.

I am having a model made of a Antilles Air Boats Short Sandringham, the aircraft was registered VP-LVE and called Southern Cross.
I flew on this aircraft in 1977 when it was here in England giving pleasure flights.

I have plenty of pictures of the starboard side but I am unable to find a good picture of the Port side.
I have tried all internet searches but no port side comes up.

Does anyone have any port side pictures of this aircraft that they could send me or post here so I can copy them to my computer and send them to the model maker.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Peter.

VP-LVE's in the Southampton Hall of Aviation (or whatever it's called now) if you fancy a trip to the South Coast...

I remember seeing it from afar that summer, ambling majestically down Southapton Water. Saw a Catalina a day or so later, that was a first as well.

Someone at Kermit's place told me several years ago they were considering putting the other one back in the air to do joyrides... now that would be nice!

Tiger_mate.

Thanks for your quick posting.

I have seen these two pictures, unfortunately the windows are a bit different to VP-LVE Southern Cross, they must have had different windows on different Sandringhams.

The pictures really need to be of VP-LVE so I can be as accurate as possible.

But many thanks again Tiger Mate, much apreciated.

Peter.

treadigraph.

Thanks for that.

I did know it was down there but it is now in the colours of Ansett Flying Boat Services and called Beachcomber, reg VH-BRC .

As you saw it in 1977 I could have well been looking down on you

ORAC.

I really do appreciate you trying, but they are not what I need.
Again, the windows are different from Southern Cross.

It does need to be a picture of Southern Cross so the model maker can get it right, but many thanks again for trying.

Peter.

Is it not reasonable to assume that the port side is a mirror image of the starboard side.

Dear Chaps.

My sincere thanks to all of you for your help.

Halcyon Days has come up trumps and sent me some great pictures, exactly what I need.

One of my favourite "spotting" memories is seing VP-LVE do a beat up of the old Runway 24 at Dublin in 1977. Captian Blair had flown up from his base at Kilaloe on the River Shannon to land at Dun Laoghaire. Unfortunately, the sea proved to choppy so he asked to return directly to County Clare via a low fly past of the control tower of Dublin Airport. Needless to say, the controllers in the tower were only too happy to oblige.
