Long time ago now but used to skydive out of an EP9 (Edgar Percival?) at Ashford in Kent.
Anyone got any photo's of one?
The aircraft in question crashed in 1980 and took out alot of friends.

Remember both aircraft - the Lympyne one at Biggin Hill in about '78, had no idea what it was! Sorry, didn't have a camera - I recall its sad end.
The Oshkosh 2001 example (owned by a US resident Swede) - and the Americans had no idea what it was! I have a pic of this somewhere, will try and dig out if i get a chance.

G-APWZ was owned by Jim Pearce based at a Strip in West Sussex, was sold a few years ago and is now in NZ (or last I heard) Jim also put together a static EP9 which is in the Museum of Army Flying in Middle Wallop Pictured at this link.
Cant set it up propert due to text in link but hope that this works if you cut and paste in to the browser?!! (Think you will have to highlight all and then copy and paste - blinking pooters!!)

I was lucky enough to enjoy a few trips in APWZ before her departure to NZ - what fun!

No. I was fortunate enough to have a contact in Calgary,BC and I flew to Oshkosh in a 182 from there. Arrived a day or two befor the start and stayed in a local house with the other three guys. I really felt I had the best deal possible. I had an adventure to get there. I had expert guides. I had plenty of time and I lived amongst the locals. I spent all day, everyday on the site and still didn't get to see everything. I would go again if I could.

Lucky so and so! I had a similar offer years ago from a friend of a friend, all I had to do was get to Georgia and then fly up with him and his wife - sadly business went awry with him and he had to sell his aircraft. Finally made it (by car) in 2001 - tho we did get some flying in a 172 around Chicago (should have landed at Meigs while we had the chance), and a Bell 47 at Oshkosh.

Only one EP9 was imported into New Zealand by Manawatu Aerial Topdressing, was used for spreading superphosphate. It was caught in bad weather and pranged 19 Feb 1958, killing both the pilot and loader driver. Perhaps another one has been imported recently but not for Ag Work.

I have in my collection a photograph I took of the prototype G-AOFU at the fuel pump at Stapleford Airfield in the latter years of the 1950s where it was operated on crop spraying duties. I think it moved to Southend for a time with "Laddie" Marmol's Air Ads Ltd but I have lost track of it since.
The early EP9s were constructed at Stapleford prior to the move to Samlesbury in about 1958 I think.
Sadly, lack of technical expertise prohibits me from posting the photograph but I will if I discover the know how.

I was on detachment in Darwin (Australia) circa 1958 flying a RAAF Lincoln Mk 31 Long Nose. I saw a EP9 taxying in after a flight from Timor. I have a photo of it which I took with an el cheapo camera.

ZK-PWZ was seen at Napier in April 2003, though not actually registed as such until 17-Oct-03 to a company at Palmerston North. This is the former G-APWZ mentioned above, c/n 42.
