Royal NZ Air Force camera timer?

Hi all

I'd appreciate any information that you might have about this Ebay item, a small mechanical timer with the capacity to close electrical contacts at a specified time:

IWC mechanical ? camera timer

It is difficult to find out exactly what this might have been used for. This one was issued to the RNZAF. Could it have been used in some way for aerial reconnaissance?

Thoughts appreciated as I'd like to find out a little more about it for some fellow wristwatch enthusiasts!

Regards
C hawk

Having been a reader of Pprune for some time, I am absolutely certain that there is someone there who can tell me how this timer was used, so don't be shy!
