Yankee Air Force Museum fire

A sad night for the people at the Yankee Air Force museum.

That is, without doubt, a very sad story for many of us on PPRuNe and in AH&N in particular. Some aircraft 'treasures' were inside the hangar and seems they are now lost forever.

Sad indeed for the folk who tend the museum - they must be feeling very miserable. So sorry guys.

A very sad situation.

I've seen some of the aftermath of the fire at the National Motorcycle Museum and it must be soul destroying to deal with the damage.

Mark.

They don't seem to be too downbeat on their website, reckoning to have got all the valuable a/c out of the way of the fire. Still very sad though.

I am amazed to see from the aerial picture on their site that they have an AW650 Argosy on display! A rarity in the UK let alone in the USA.

BikerMark - that was what came to my mind as well. Why do these places, entrusted with irreplaceable artefacts, not have adequate fire suppresion systems?

The NMM proudly announce that rebuilding is well underway, but my question is this - what are they going to exhibit in their new place?
