Film Night at the Airways Museum - Fri 24 Sep
Folks,
The Civil Aviation Historical Society is holding its inaugural Film Night at the Airways Museum, Essendon Airport, on Friday September 24.
The programme includes a selection of short historical aviation films from the archives. Entry is by gold coin donation and free tea and coffee are provided.

The website also has a short clip from the film Aeradio, which is one of the films to be shown next week. It's a position report, 1950s-style, from TAA DHA-3 Drover 'Transair Dog Roger Baker' to Charleville Aeradio.

Still working on the exact programme. I'll get the boss done up in drag to serve tea, just for you. We even have some genuine DCA tea-tickets in the Museum.

The programme is as follows:
1. Flight Plan (1950) B&W, 24 min. A review of Civil Aviation in Australia today. Air Traffic Control, airfield construction and stringent testing of aircraft components are shown, together with the Flying Doctor services and what Civil Aviation means to people in the outback
2. Aeradio (1953) B&W, 19 min. Illustrates the set up of Aeradio Stations throughout Australia, with methods of control to safeguard flying operations.
3. Aircraft at Work (1966) Col, 16 min. This film shows the contribution of aircraft to the development and economy of Australia. Reference to Lawrence Hargrave, Box Kites, historical film 1911, World War I, 1919 Ross & Keith Smith, 1921 1st Airmail Service, start of Qantas, 1928 Kingsford Smith, 1934 1st Regular Mail delivery, modern day airport, outback, Flying Doctor, student pilots.
