Shuttleworth Display, 2 May

Well, I put out several PA calls for a meeting at the beer tent at 1500, and promptly missed it................did anyone else make it?

Talking

Sorry I was busy doing something else!!!!!!

What a great display. It showed the grace of the aircraft that we were able to launch, the benefit of training and a different display/typical atmosphere with the combinations used.
Shows we do not always need the heavies.

I think a first for the "tied" formation which was very graceful and stayed together until landing.

I am waiting for the photos.

Photos will have to wait until the morning (early ish) as I have onlu just got then off the camera and a beer beckons

A cracking day out Gromit

A superb display in difficult conditions by Airbedane in the Boxkite, I will admit to wincing a bit when you made that first turn.

I'll second that VATCO, GB did spend rather a lot of time in a delegatory position, didn't he.....

We saw each other briefly when a group of us were debriefing after the show, MOTF, but the debrief did go on a bit - next time, perhaps.

Airbedane

No probs. You are there to run an airshow first and talk to photogs somewhere like 50th.

Photos coming soon (bad hangover)

A cracking start to the season thanks to the chaps and chapesses at Old Warden. Highlights for me was the aforementioned Boxkite display in tricky conditions by Airbedane and the Yakovlevs. All in all a superb day out, heres to the 2004 season.

Sir Percy gets airborne in the Triplane.

Batchy.

The Shuttleworth Avro Triplane sets the pace, I assume an original engine would considerabally effect its performance!

Batchy

Airbedane keeps a close eye on piece of string.

What a great opening to the season! Thanks for the lovely pictures boys. Impromptu participation like the BoBMF Dakota is always special to me and it was great to see them. Requires a certain persuasive technique on the R/T I find

A very fine start to the season indeed. Plenty of time to admire the Edwardians and thankfully no rain despite it being a bit dull all day.

Here are a few of my offerings:

Cheers, Rob

Thumbs up

Excellent show...
Despite all those wonderful aircraft, my favourite was the Cub - never seen one flown like that before...
Roll on the evening display!

Fantastic to see the Edwardians flying and great to see that angular beast, the Desoutter, flying.

Excellent pics people. I managed to make it to the beer tent (shouldn't the announcement have been snack bar, it took me 5 minutes to realise there wasn't actually a beer TENT as such) and met MotF .

Excellent show but I found the £15 per head entrance fee a tad eye watering to say the least!

Batchy I think (waiting for corrections here) that the Avro tripe, although a replica, has a period engine.

LnS

If you join the SVAS it was only £7.50 to get in. Did you track down any ciggies?

MotF I am a member of the SVAS, well I think I renewed my sub but I've lost my card. What a tosser I hear you say. I'll have to get onto Shuttleworth and get a new one. Still, £15 doesn't really encourage newbies into the Shuttleworth environment does it. The three lasses in the car with me abandoned ship and went to see the classic car show and Shuttleworth house instead.

No, I never did track down any cigs, probably for the best really

I guess the price doesnt encourage regular attendance, however what with training week etc mine has already paid for itself this year.

Me, id go whatever the price, but thenagain I also went flying with Rob M so I must be mad (sorry Rob )

6 3/4 hours and 380 miles on Sunday to a christening and back. $OD IT!! Looks like I missed a great day at OW and had to pretend to admire odiferous rugrats instead!

Shouldn't the Hind photo have been captioned "BeHIND you!!"

Good to see that so many - and so many varied - aircraft took to the air. The Yaks look good; but I won't pass comment on the flying advertising hoarding....

'Twas indeed a splendid day - and for a newcomer, not bad for £15.

My pics weren't as good as those above, but (as I mentioned on another thread before it was closed) I did get a shot of PVC big hair lady!!!!
