SU 35 Aeros

Thought you guys who appreciate a few aeros might not have seen this bit of film before. Just received from a mate in N.Carolina. It runs for 6.37 mins with a break, so don't think the show is over after 3 and a bit mins. Great film of the "snake's head" Bof

Thanks for that. Excellent. You don’t see many pics of the Hook.

It reminds me of the jaw dropping effect the Su-27 had on us when it pitched up for the first time in the West at Paris in 1989 and Su’s ctp Victor Pugachev did a run through before landing.

His demo included a 360 in 10 secs and finished with a Cobra on the downwind leg from which he turned final. A TV lady with a microphone stuck it in front of the USAF F-16 display pilot who was watching from alongside his aeroplane and asked him what he would do if he found himself in combat with one of those. He replied with one word “Eject”

Devil

Well remember Yevgeny Frolov having huge problems validating at Farnborough when his ultra low speed and high alpha manoevers in the Su35 translated over the crowd area, never mind the display line. It seemed to be due to gyroscopic effect from precession with the huge turbofans that caused the unacceptable deviation. I had a 10 minute discussion with him in the Sukhoi chalet since I knew him from light aeroplane aerobatic contest days. If he were to reverse the direction of his manoevers then the precession forced heading change would be away from the display line rather than towards it. He said they had no problems (niet problyema) with crowd overflights in Russia and I reminded him of the time at the 1986 world championsips at South Cerney when one of his countrymen in a Su26 got a real bollocking from me as the CAA inspector after a series of superbly flown manouevers flown at low level were directly over the crowd; which included a member of the Royal family. The offender was given his own personal copy of CAP403. He did remember the occasion, changed the direction of the flight and validated...............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
