DH2 flies in New Zealand
So now there's a DH-2 at each end of the globe assuming the CAA's favourite vet still has his airworthy.
Lovely pics by the way.
Ah, an old Bessoneau hangar with an RE8, DH-2, Brisfit, DH-4, Pup, Tripehound and a Camel in it. Now wouldn't that be a sight.

The C o f A of the DH-2 belonging to the CAA's favourite vet had expired in July 2001 - I had an idea he was selling it - and just about everything else - to finance the continuation of his epic J-3 Round the World trip... But it is still registered to him at the moment.
Where is dear old G-KIRK now, still in Aus?
Nice pics, Amitch, what is the story behind this aeroplane?

Hi All
The DH2 is a full size replica, not sure where it came from.
It's part of the Omaka Fighter Collection along with a Camel, 5 Triplanes, F2b, Nueiport 24, and a Avro 504.
Have a look at http://www.warbirdsovernewzealand.com/cf2003/cf2003.htm
for photos from this years airshow.
Cheers

The mortal remain of a South African registered replica once resided in the Topen hangar at Cranfield - not sure what happened to that, and it might actually have been a Vickers Gunbus! Think it had upstaged Roger Moore and Lee Marvin in "Shout at the Devil".
amitch sounds like my "dream collection" Now where did I put that lottery ticket .........................
Fantastic pics of the Five Fokkers in Formation (i never thought I'd get to say that!

I was fortunate to attend the Classic Fighters airshow at Omaka last Easter, where this DH.2 was on static display in the hangar.
It seems likely that it is the replica built by Walter M Redfern in 1982, previously N5496, which was cancelled on export to New Zealand on 14-Jan-03.

Having seen the gorgeous pics of the DH2 it bought back the memories of the one we had at Leisure Sport in '77. Beautifully built but seriously underpowered with a Warner Scarab engine.
We only flew a few hours in it (G-BFVH). It had a top speed of about 44 mph and a stall speed of near 37 mph! Very hairy I have to say We got it to Farnborough for the '77 show but it was grounded by us - and the CAA - and took no part in the show.
I am not sure when, but it went eventually to KIRKY in Haverfordwest. Not heard of it since.
Them were good days and we had some super replicas to fly courtesy RMC. A very strange combination of investor and delicate aeroplanes really!
