One afternoon in late August I was driving along, talking shop on my mobile to the Chief Test Pilot at Cranfield when he stopped and said (with a significant note of incredulity in his voice) "what the hell is that".
Not unusually, it turned out to be Bill flying something unusual, he does this on a regular basis.
Seriously, a super bit of effort from Bill, he's always good value for money - TV stardom seems to suit him. I've had the privilege of working with him on a number of things - he's as clever, as good a test pilot, and as much an unreformed hippie as the programme makes him out to be.
He'd make a great next presenter for Tomorrows World if some philistine with a degree in ladies basket weaving hadn't axed it. Maybe he should be the next Dr.Who instead.
