Breaking the Sound Barrier - TV tonight (Monday)

Speed Machines Channel 4 (UK)
Time: 20:00 to 21:00

Breaking the Sound Barrier.

Series on the history of speed and the rivalry between ships, planes, cars and trains in their bid to be the fastest. The race to break the sound barrier began in World War II when the British uncovered German plans for a 1,000 mph aircraft. When the Messerschmitt 262 was launched, the British responded with the M52 and the DH108 Swallow, and by the end of the war, the Americans entered the race with the Bell X1.

Hi, chum!

Did you catch 'The plan to bomb New York' on SatTV over the weekend. Some fascianting Horten wing v. sub-orbital rocketplane (now there's an Eagle comics term ) analysis.

...and yet in a week's time we won't even have a supersonic transport aeroplane any more.

Is this progress?

(Just to keep Uncle Spam happy - and his CIA spooks - please understand that the terms 'bomb' and 'New York' in the same sentence are purely historical. Sir, yes Sir. Honest. Trust me..... Black Omegas outside? Wonder what they want? Not the latex gloves and Swarfega again??......OUCH!!)
