Yeah watched it

the TV B********s came through again e.g.

a) radar was "invented" by Watson-Watt - the concept was patented by a German in about 1905 (technically impractical at the time admittedly)

b) the Germans knew nothing about radar early in the war - so how come theirs was better than the UK's? (Seetakt, Freya, Wurzburg etc!)

c) centrimetric radar (= the cavity magnetron) was the first shipborne/airborne radar able to detect U boats

but at least they did mention sector stations and the use to which radar was put. And all the Spitfires were in period - no shots of Mark IX's participating in the Battle of Britain.

So it wasn't all bad

Scruffy presenter though. Seemed to rush through it all at the end. Twas worth watching though, so thanks spekesoftly for the heads up.

A. C. Clarkes "Glide Path" is a fiction book on a similiar subject of turning rader into a GPA system - worth a read if you ever find a copy.

I must train the boss to act as a WSO and draw off the range gate or prehaps deploy flares out of the family bus next time I'm in Wales then.
