The problem with Alan Joyce with a wig is that she has been brought up under Kim jun Joyce, she won’t last much longer, in the US the airlines are scrambling to bring in Subsidiaries because they can at least control them if in house. Welcome to the world where pilots are rare and you idiots need to retain us otherwise goodbye! I just find this hilarious because all the MBA’s in QCC are supposed to know what is happening but they are like a deer with no eyes….. No idea! We need to stretch out SH, LH and NJS EBA’s and start PIA across the board! vote NO everyone and bring this ship down, after all everyone is desperate for pilots so no jeopardy!

The very worst that can happen is QF collapse and get taken over or another airline comes along and sucks up the work. And hopefully they will know better this time round to screw the pilots. I say let it sink. What is there to lose? Atleast we know QF management will never be allowed to set foot near an airline again. There is litterally nothing to lose. Time to nuke QF management.

beautiful_butterfly 12th Mar 2024 08:20

Seems like IB was the goal here from the outset. Litmus test for all other employee groups. And while the result is pending it’ll remain a tacit threat for everyone else.

Self inflicted intractability.

QF will never fall, they have that national asset clause that will be enacted and they will either be bought out of the government or cash injection again (let’s hope not to managements pockets this time).

so what happens if IB lands in favour of QF? that’s it no pay rises for anyone ever again? Pack up and choose another career? if months of PIA is pointless and QF wins anyway what is the point we may as well change jobs!

Refuse to work, park every jet. There is currently nothing to lose so what does it matter if you refuse to work with IB. How the f..k will Network replace these pilots? They won't! The pilots have litterally nothing to lose. They are already struggling to pay the bills? Best to go work somewhere else in the meantime. Qantas have everything to lose and the quicker they wake up to that reality the better. Transperth pays more than Network and they are currently recruiting so better to go drive a bus until Network submits to the pilots demands.

Zeta_Reticuli 12th Mar 2024 10:04

If a Network pilot gets a job at Transperth atleast they should be able to afford a home in Maddington or Balga... win win right? You reading this QF management??? I hope your ready for a nuclear event!

Dude,

Put down the overpriced west coast IPA for the night. We're all behind you, but don't go all Hoody on us yeah?

Really??! Whats the income for a Transperth bus driver? Disgraceful of that's the case (Network pilots paid less than them - very disappointing to hear).

My grandfather 10years ago was averaging 110k driving buses for Swan transit. When you take into account public holidays, sundays etc... from memory trainees are on $35 an hour. Which would be more than an f100 f/o.
you can earn $45 an hour driving trailer tugs at Toll woolies/coles distribution centre on Horrie miller drive...

A quick google says up to $100k increasing with experience. Who knows where it tops out but there isn’t the upfront cost of entry, nor the years of earning a pittance before you can get an interview for that job.

Why on earth would you go into this profession these days. Madness

Guys - I worked for Transperth during Covid driving the buses in Perth and they are nowhere near to what a Network Pilot gets. If you are lucky with a lot of overtime you might get close to 70 or 80 K. Even a Train driver in Perth gets about 80K. And to be honest driving a bus in Perth is harder than flying a 320 !!!! Once you have experience and are apply to get a job driving the trains up at the mines than the money goes up !!!

Ahwell there you go guys.
Since driving a bus is harder than flying an A320, diregarding entry level pay and how easy it was to get the job and the fact a monkey could get a job driving a bus. Network pilots should settle for 50k for f/os and capts 90k. Best give in to QF now.

How about we compare ourselves to ourselves instead? If you were a narrow body domestic captain in 1990 earning about $200,000 a year (as we did), based on RBA data and if these grubby CEOs hadn’t intervened, you’d be earning just shy of $470,000 today.

This is very ballpark but it’s also an order of magnitude above what they are offering in their ‘improved’ offer.

Know your worth! You’ve done the hard bit, now let’s get them to the table and deliver your strategic imperatives.

Until it's not….

As I've told everyone who asked me why I got (apparently) paid so much;
A pilot get paid above the average wage for what they can do, not what they do everyday. Most go through their career hoping to never have to earn the money the award/agreement provides for just that case.

How can you even compare a bus driver to an Airline Pilot?
Driving a bus is harder than flying a A320…. What are you smoking? :ugh:

Precisely. All the older pilots from that era all seem to live very comfortably in nice areas/flash houses etc. These days as an airline pilot you are lucky to own a place in the worst suburbs in a city.

Pretty bold move - either they know the probable outcome of IB is in their favour (how could they know? are they able to influence the outcome?) or more likely they perceive the benefit of the threat for the group is greater than any potential cost. If the threat of IB is unsuccessful they’ll have to manufacture something else.

Let's not forget houses were about 5 x average income and not about 10 as per now. We don't really get value for our work and money and anymore. So many airline pilots tell me they can't afford a nice house in a nice suburb.

Probably because of a perception that pilots are risk averse.

Noone knows who is in the Chairman's lounge. It would be very easy for a QF executive to "accidentally" bump into a commissioner on their way through and it would all be above board. You just both happened to be in the lounge at the same time.
