Scoot TR7 return and divert info

Hey all,

Anyone have any info on TR7 Gold Coast to Singapore today? Turned around not far out back to Gold Coast then seems to have diverted to Sydney now?

Engineering Delay which resulted in late takeoff which then resulted in bogan passenger throwing a tantrum after takeoff. Burnt Fuel went to Sydney.

Aren't there any AFP in OOL? Why the divert? Also, one PAX stated that the flight should never have left the ground without disembarking alleged drunk bogan as he was already picking a fight/intimidating/abusing other PAX before wheels up. Any truth to that?

With the time already airborne, plus the police ‘investigation’ on arrival, the crew would be out of hours and unable to continue. By going to Sydney, Scoot could put the passengers onto other flights to Singapore. That would not be possible out of the Goldcoast or Brisbane.

All decisions would have been commercially based once the Capt was informed the guy was under control. I feel for the ground staff as they would be under pressure to get 'em in & get 'em out fast meaning they wanna get rid of the problem (drunk idiot) to the next level of assessment, the FA's. It's a common issue unruly behavior, road rage, assaults at venues, bullying, domestic violence etc, sign of how angry society is these days:-(

Re 'sign of how angry society is these days'....

More like 'doped up' I would imagine....perhaps a bit of 'ice' had something to do with it, having experienced the effects of the so called 'recreation drug' on some people.

Hope he gets banned for life from all airlines.

No cheers and no sympathy.

Well that actually makes a lot of sense. Thanks.

You’ve got to be joking right?!?
So as long as drunk is out of the ground staff’s hands, everything’s fine?
Much easier to deal with an unruly drunk at 38,000’ than on the ground!

machtuk 22nd Jan 2019 05:56

Not at all, that's exactly how it is, if you cant fathom that then that's yr problem!

So the AFP arent charging him and the airline isnt taking further action. But he is having a mental health assessment.....meanwhile he cost the airline tens of thousands of dollars and disrupted 200 other passengers.

The perpetrator is fortunate the flight did not carry on to Singapore. I imagine the Singaporean Authorities reaction on landing would be more formidable than the Australian justice system.

SnowFella 22nd Jan 2019 06:13

Sounds like the AFP has made a decision, no charge and transferred to a mental health facility.
One of these days I have to ask a workmate made "famous" from a similar incident just what the outcome was.

He's one of the muppets involved in this debacle.

Bogans behaving badly...

Cable tie him to the seat and let our Singaporean friends deal with him at the other end. I’m just sure they will take real good care of him :}

Give him the Indo treatment...

there has to be a better way of dealing with these mentally unstable people, rather than just let them on a flight (or whatever) and when they commute a crime they just get let off, and maybe put on a no-fly list.

Right...... So the ground staff have no obligation to refuse embarkation to a drunk passenger???
Well that is definitely news to me.
Thanks for clarifying!

Ex FSO GRIFFO 22nd Jan 2019 09:11

Just saw the 'result' on Ch7 News. (Perth)

Well, I'm 'Flabbered & Gasteredddd'...…………..What more can any of us say...………..in this case anyway!!

No Cheers...NOPE none at all...

PoppaJo 22nd Jan 2019 09:43

He needs to face the Singaporean system. He was on a 9V regisistered bird. It’s the only way the bogans here will learn. He would be facing prison, 100 lashes and probably wished he was never alive had he been arrested on the other end.

There is a similar case of another bogan abusing police officers (video on YouTube) at Changi and pushing them. He got 7 months prison.

He won’t get any form of justice here as our system is flawed. He needs to be whipped in Singapore.

Yes because nothing makes people stop drinking like a random doing a short stint in a Singaporean jail. I heard no one has ever smuggled drugs through that joint since the first one was executed. They all learned.

The sadistic bogan hate fantasies you lot have are both hilarious and terrifying. As we know the coked up eastern suburbs glitterati have never found themselves on the wrong side of the law. Quick grab the whip!

I've heard many a story of cashed up people that do coke before getting on a flight as they hate flying. Would explain so much ..
