Sorry professor, missed your calling! But anyway if interested here’s something to start with :ok:: (think they waiting approval)

morno 11th Dec 2017 12:55

Edit - Appears to only be the mobile version that doesn't work

Thank you. Much appreciated and much easier on my poor old eyes.

That'll buff out!

SHVC 11th Dec 2017 20:01

Nothing 7 Mil can’t fix, plenty spare cash around.

How do you scrape forward of the Skid?! Not saying it’s impossoble but the amount of damage indicates a fair old whack. Surprised no passengers haven’t blown the lid on it.

another cadet at the controls

SHVC 11th Dec 2017 23:19

More like a inexperienced training CPT training the CDT, either way you look at it, it happened.

Fm what I’ve heard, spot on shvc. This one now doing the rounds checkie in the jump:eek: passed the (trg) capt., failed FO. Heard that came from the checkie himself bit wound up could understand would be, doesn’t look real good from whatever the reasoning.

believe fm cb cctv.....

Naughty Cadet.

I thought the whole point of these cadets schemes were to reduce wage spend and overall costs.

The savings of the cadet scheme is far outweighed by the bills to fix damaged machines. It’s the same over at the cancer. For every group of new cadets coming through there is another tail strike or bungled landing.

hoss 12th Dec 2017 05:12

The accountants should be able to buff out the bill!

I’d say the Cadetship has a strong future according to them.

Tic Toc......

patty50 12th Dec 2017 07:20

How does Virgin have so many issues with cadets yet Qlink and Jetstar seem to get along well enough

Lookleft 12th Dec 2017 08:57

Jetstar has plenty of issues but you just don't read about it so much.

SHVC 12th Dec 2017 09:24

That's rubbish, my 5 yrs on the Machine I have never been out of trim and if it was we have picked it up before departing.

josephfeatherweight 12th Dec 2017 09:58

I have never been out of trim and if it was we have picked it up before departing.
That doesn't quite make sense, though I think I know what you are saying - you have been out of trim (I'm gathering that means outside of the the fwd/aft CoG limits due to loading) but have picked it up and corrected it, prior to takeoff?? So, that would still rate as an issue, as Livinthedream320 was alluding to, would it not??

hoss 12th Dec 2017 10:07

Please explain.....

So how does a regional prop designed for this sort of flying find itself with CoG issues?

I would have thought you’d be no where near the limits, I guess those last minute ‘carry ons’ do add up. Are you tankering on this sector?

Either way, putting low time pilots onto the hardest aircraft in the fleet is a bit rough.

Tic toc

maggot 12th Dec 2017 10:08

Surely fuel burn wouldn't lead to out of trim? Sounds like bs

hoss 12th Dec 2017 10:25

Yeah I wouldn’t have thought so maggot but I had to ask.

I totally get the ramp/loading possibilities.

My advise: tread carefully, this is CAR233 territory.

If there’s doubt there is no doubt.

hoss 12th Dec 2017 18:48

On a slightly different note. If you want to see some good ‘unknown trim’ flying and dispatch with multiple MEL/CDLs in a jet transport then check this out. Good character building stuff, I bet they never showed you this at the academy.

Caveat - I have no knowledge of the Type or this incident so please read my comments as generic.

Just about any aircraft can get caught out by misloading .. the bigger the bird and the more time tight the turnarounds, the greater the risk of a screw up.

It is for protection against such events that operator systems and crew protocols (along with one's individual safety checks) are in place and seek to catch the error before it gets off chocks.

Even the experts can trip up .. I recall a tale from a very experienced TP .. years ago he and his FTE were off to test a small aircraft. However it transpired, the ballast load was greatly in error and the loaded cg far too aft. After the flight it was established that the aircraft was statically unstable for the flight. With knowledge of what to do and how to do it, he managed to drag it around the circuit in a sweaty fashion .. most of us would have ended in a smoking hole in the ground.

Inadvertent misloading is an ever-present worry for crews, I suggest.

A very real and constant risk with freighters.

All it takes with a passenger aircraft is to load cargo A into hold D and vice versa to give the pilots some excitement.

Be very cautious out there in the real world of aviation, good people.

SHVC 13th Dec 2017 07:58

Touché Joseph, that is correct.

I can’t see how it would be out of trim on a SY-CB sector due to fuel just to short we take a standard amount and no ther A/C has had problems.

Only have to look at Midwest 5481 that was a severe case of a ramp failure.
