Tiger MEL-DPS Divert Darwin
Anybody know why the past few days Tigerair TT1 Melbourne - Denpasar has stopped in Darwin? Weather?
Interesting. |
Interesting question for a first post! Noticed a Tiger 737 on the ramp yesterday afternoon in DRW.
Do I care, No because it's not my business - not being rude....... |
I don't know!
But guessing Fuel Stop due payload/headwinds? If it was supposed to be a nonstop flight, I guess the passengers would have been told before departure! Then again Tiger, maybe after departure!! :D |
Massive headwinds equals tech stop, nothing new to see here
|
200 knot jetstreams is probably the answer.

Try this:
school holiday loads 150kt headwinds Surabaya unavailable due to volcanic ash TEMPO at other alternates no one of these will do it, but a combination makes a tech stop necessary. Either that or offload a couple of tonnes or grumpy holiday makers. |

Yeah when the pax are on short final to Darwin I wonder if they are still stoked they saved $28 on their airfare :)

Or fly it in a widebody like everybody else.

I'm assuming you said the same when it was Virgin branded flying the same route? |
Actually majority of AU-Bali traffic is narrow bodies. AirAsia are cutting widebody flights leaving Jetstar and Garuda.
PER-DPS A320 737 A330 ADL-DPS A320 MEL-DPS 737/787/330 SYD-DPS 737/787/330 BNE-DPS 737/787 DRW-DPS A320 PHE-DPS 737 CNS-DPS A320 TSV-DPS A320 Tiger have a higher density configuration compared to Virgin in the 737 which is where the weight is. |
Just pointing out that everybody else flies widebodies to Bali and in such there would be no payload restrictions Air Asia fly A320. Garuda fly B737 Jetstar fly A320 |
And none of those airlines do it from MEL in a narrowbody which is what the thread was about.........
:ugh: |
