I don't have the figures in front of me but a FO at QF doing 75 hours a month is probably $200k v JQ $150k.

I disagree on this point. I've never been treated without the utmost professionalism and respect by the hard working QF cabin crew and returned the same courtesy when in business.
Jetstar is such a frustrating place to work. On one hand the crew you work with on a daily basis are fantastic and as I said the training department (always a few exceptions) are excellent. But every day just constantly feels like pushing **** up hill, for a horrible management that give you zero respect or support. I am probably a bit negative towards JQ at times but, **** me the place just grinds you down to a point where you just don't care anymore. If you can just be 100% dead inside, learn to enjoy their "games" and take some pleasure in screwing them over when you can it's probably not the worst place in the world. They could make it such a great place to work with very little effort or $ but, they purposely do the opposite at every opportunity just because they can. It's soul crushing at times. |

Having re-read what I wrote, perhaps I came off a little over the top and I acknowledge that. Wasn't having a go at individual crew just that you are constantly reminded that you are not "QF" throughout the whole process. It's so respectful that QF FA's that have been there for 5 minutes kick you out Of business on duty travel. I probably shouldn't expect much considering JQ won't even guarantee you business on your own Metal.

That’s because you aren’t QF. Why should the QF employee have to forego their seat for you?

Why? We’re talking about a frigging business class seat here, not a chain of command for a flight 🤔🤦♂️

I wasn’t aware of that Ollie, but I completely agree with you. The company you’re on should have the highest priority.
|
In not saying QF shouldn't get priority on their own Metal etc. What is am saying is that if I work for Qlink, my paxing sector is booked in business class whenever able. If I work for Jetstar, it's only upgradeable on a space available basis. Therefore a flighty who has been with the company for 5 minutes will kick me out of J but that wouldn't happen to a Qlink crew. See what I'm saying?
We are all one "group" but not really. Yes don't even start me on QF getting better on our flights than we do. The AFAP is useless they can't even get that for their crew. |
One thing that the likes of Woolworths and Wesfarmers do well, is the one team mindset across all its banners, they have just as many agreements as Qantas does.
Qantas does a good job of creating divisions within its own ranks. You’d think Goyder would perhaps unite the group a bit more, I guess he is under Alan’s spell. |
If you don’t already have confirmed business at roster publish your never going to get it. There’s simply not enough business class seats available to do that. With the introduction of A220s and E-Jets there’s a 17% reduction in business class seats available on many mainline routes.
You’re better off improving the deal you get when your given an economy seat (eg: guaranteed isle or window with spare seat next to you or $200 allowance whenever your seated in economy). |

I was contracted to fly for a Jetstar entity overseas not so long ago. It was policy that any paxing crew be assigned an emergency exit row seat.

Its all cash in the management ‘teams’ pocket until the old fella who paid an extra $20 can’t figure out how to open the window and 10 people burn to death. |
Flew standby on a LCC in states 2 days ago . They offered 2 checked bags , 2 carry on , free coffee and snacks , free inflight WiFi , good enough stream footy live . All they asked was I sit in the exit row . $50 USD 3 hour flight .
