Yeah nah... Just so you know, the E3D gives the right to live in the US, but doesn't automatically grant the right to work. Once you have your Social Security Number, etc, you can then apply for an Employment Autorization Document (EAD). That process they say can take 90 days, but up to 120 is not uncommon. And you need to reapply for the EAD every time you get a new visa.
So, when the primary E3 holder comes up on their 2 years and reapplies, the new E3D should be granted at the same time. There is no reduction in processing time for a renewal... So explaining to the CP why you'll need 3-4 months off every 2 years might be a stretch. EADs are running more like 6 months on average now. Your E3 in your passport is an application to enter the country. The CBP officer then makes the call as to how long to make your status last for, usually 2 years from date of entry. With this, and a bit of foresight, you can non rev out of the country and come back in with a fresh stamp, then apply for an EAD based of the latest i94, effectively (hopefully) leaving you with a new EAD before your old one expires. |

So you could reapply (with the E3 primary) 4-6 months early, and once that is issued, re-enter on the new visa but continue to work on the existing EAD card while waiting on the new one to be issued. Am I on the same track as you? I still would be wary, as it sounds like a loophole more than the intended implementation. Plus you'd be trying to get your spouse's workplace to agree to 2 weeks visa leave every 18 months instead of 24. Quite frankly, it's probably easier to apply to one of the many regionals as the primary E3, regardless if your spouse is also a primary E3 or not. |

No I don't and nor do most the people I know currently working as E3s in the US. Seems to be a grey area, but they seem to recognise the flying qualifications and having the required hours to hold an ATP licence as equivalent. I heard that the Melbourne and Perth consulates are the most straight forward to deal with. I do have a Diploma and hear that has also been helpful to others in the past.

The 121 flying is dead easy, but you really do need to experience it a little bit to find your groove and learn all the idiosyncrasies of the big hubs. Then there’s all the north East winter/cold weather ops to deal with, again not rocket science, but it’s a learning curve dealing with timing a push with your EDCT, de-icing, not exceeding DOT times sitting on the ramp waiting to take off etc etc. |

Expressjet has reintroduced the ATP style 30 question written test which is done online before interview. Passmark is 80%. If you screw it up you get a second chance. Then as someone said its why Expressjet and TMAAT etc. Brief an approach plate and maybe some questions about US airspace. |

So any flying for a non FAA 121 air carrier doesn’t count towards hours for upgrade. |

Both email addresses to apply are agencies so I wouldn't beleive anything about flows. As for NZ getting a visa deal I doubt that very much too.

If you're planning to join Trans States or any other airline via an ad that has not been provided directly from the company, then they are hustling for referral bonuses.
Do you have any friends at TSA or any other airline you're applying for? Maybe offer them your referral first. Anyone can provide the same advice that has lived through the procedure, plus you might be able to split it with them. Alternatively free information is also plentiful in this thread. To be clear, I think someone should refer you. After all, It's free money. It's just up to you whom you want to give it to. These agencies might be transparent about what they are up to, but also might not be. Dangling the Frontier flow carrot makes me instantly wary. E3 holders try and fail over and over again with the LCCs. Please don't choose TSA based on this. |

The whole flow to Frontier is just as puzzling as these things usually are. It will be worth watching...just in case some E3s can be part of whatever it turns out to be. |
