Agree with the above. Surely there are better things to do with your time then debate online the amount of E3s at Atlas lol

SIDS N STARS 23rd Mar 2023 12:34

I don't think anyone cares what the figure actually is, its just a good topic of discussion... Is it possible that Atlas could be one of the largest employers of AU pilots outside of Australia?..

ResumeOwnNav 23rd Mar 2023 16:58

You can look up the LCAs online if you really want to. The original quoted number is close to the mark.

I call BS on that. I’m an E3 pilot working in the US and I know for a fact there are approximately 450 to 500 Aussies at Atlas if not more as I know at least 5 there myself and they confirmed the numbers for me from their seniority list.

Secondly I doubt HR got back to you over an E3 request as they don’t even get back to people they have hired to tell them when their class dates are. They simply don’t have time to mess around with a stupid request like that.

Stop making up such rubbish like that to win an argument..

National Air Cargo/Airlines in the US says there is over 55% Aussie pilots on the 747 at their company, that’s about 80 to 85 pilots and they only have 6 active 747 in service with 2 new nose front loaders waiting to come online and more E3 hiring on that.

Atlas has over 52 747 aircraft so almost 10 times the pilots on those aircraft. At approximately 50% Aussie pilots on type that easily adds up to 500 E3 visa pilots, you do the math.

Aussie pilots are rightly taking advantage of the E3 visa and the numbers have exploded. Not good for mainline carriers here but will hopefully force better T&C’s be offered to the pilot group here.

Obviously agree as my above posts. Don't get his/her agenda. Very weird

Cargo is in the toilet and Atlas doesn't want E3s now.

Have a nice day.

Spoken like a true loser who is too afraid to leave their **** tier underpaid subsidiary jet job and get out of their comfort zone to be paid what they're worth.

Or maybe he/she/it just likes living in their home country?
Don't know about freight but the entire US economy is toilet bound so good luck with that

Sorry to burst your bubble but up until very recently I worked for Atlas.

Thanks for the loser remark. I can tell you are an intelligent individual with complex thoughts.

So you work for Alliance or Network on a rubbish agreement because you wanted to come back to Australia after leaving Atlas?
Assuming you came back to Australia is the contract you came back to Australia for what a Pilot is really worth in todays market?

I can smell a Bin Chicken

Gnadenburg 25th Mar 2023 23:08

How about we keep this thread informative and balanced, where we understand every pilot has different ambitions, financial positions, outlooks and goals?

Many will go to the US and return. I’ve seen it as an expat before. It doesn’t mean the US experience isn’t suited for a lot of Australian pilots. Expat life is a challenge and often professionally humbling. It can take a long time to settle in lifestyle and vocation.

So how come you pulled the pin on Atlas? It could save a few readers some heartache if they resonate with your sentiments.

And yes, as not so nicely put above, rapid command opportunities are at carriers in Australia where there is no seniority, no union, no EBA and no money. But they do have a Bond.

Now you take that back, or morno will right on here defending his Australian/American bruthas who are nearly as good as him.

Most people leave the US and their good contracts for things unrelated to money. It's a good place to be a pilot but it's pretty  on almost every other metric.

This whole argument is stupid. Everyone now knows the benefits of the US, more money and better career opportunities. Everyone also knows what you get if you choose to stay at home, close to family and your own people.

What would be enlightening though, is to hear from those who came and left, what exactly it was about your experience that led you that way? The US isn't for everyone, and that's ok. This thread is great for highlighting the pros, it probably wouldn't hurt to have a solid list of the cons for those still on the fence.

I'll start us off with an experience I had first renting here... Con - the baffling need to pay for rent with a cheque, or pay a surcharge if you choose to pay online.

Capn Rex Havoc 26th Mar 2023 23:41

Hi Dropyoursocks,

I am renting in Florida, and I don’t have that issue.

Before buying a place (which mortgage is electronic payments) I used PayPal, Zelle or any myriad of methods but checks as great since it takes longer to clear and drain your bank account!

DropYourSocks 27th Mar 2023 00:58

I'd forgotten about life before Zelle... simpler times. @CRH, it was one place several years ago. Thankfully since then it's been more civilized.

I know someone who left USA a year ago to come back to fly jets in oz. Instant regret. Within a few months already looking to go back to their old company or utilise their TR at a rival company. They were absolutely shocked once the reality of a subsidiary pay cheque and hours/days worked presented itself to them.

I know of one who left Oz and was doing ok but went back chasing skirt. Shame.

Idiot. Everyone knows it's easier chasing skirt in USA, especially with our accents.
