If MH shrinks to a local/regional what is in their aircraft inventory that global carriers would be interested in?

Point to note. Perhaps MH's pennypinching ways are coming home to roost. First, not being willing to pay for Satellite ACARS (only VHF). Now, taking the shortest route, even though over a war zone. Two hulls lost. While neither of these decisions may be primary causes of these two losses, if they were more liberal with the purse strings, they wouldn't be in quite the pickle that they are right now.

As stated elsewhere, GREYBEARD and Mrs G flew out of Japan to Perth on Friday with a crew who were woken or had woken to the news.
Their professionalism and service was of the highest standard and we will use them again if the flights fit our needs. I was in Singapore for Silk Air, Lear jet and SQ 6, people can and must proceed forward from these things. What we all must do is catch, bring to justice and deal with these cretins who did this unspeakable act, from the grunt who pulled the trigger to the puppet master who called the act. |
I don't disagree with your sentiments greybeard but am not sure it is the solution in an aviation safety sense.

Although it was reported that the rebels had BUKS I believe it was thought that they were still under the control of competent Russian operators - obviously they were not. It was known that the rebels had hand held SAMs but these were not seen as a threat to civil over flights, hence the considerable numbers of over flights. The insurance market would have withdrawn cover if they had even the slightest idea that a shoot down was possible.
Shooting down an eastbound civilian jet at FL330 does not, to me, seem like an accident, unless the BUK crew were peasants in uniform with no formal training or knowledge of geography, i.e. trigger happy rebels. SIA do not usually appear on the front of the crash comics. Be interesting to see if SIA offer some kind of support to MAS, though I doubt it would go as far as the old alliance of the sixties, Malaysia and Singapore Airlines, MSA. |

They will survive, look at other airlines like 'Lion Air', they regularly crash aircraft and are still going strong. I think most people will realise that the crash of MH017 was totally outside of the control of Malaysian Airlines. They were one of MANY airlines using that piece of airspace (which was open for use) and some ******** on the ground randomly shot them out of the sky. I would still fly with them.

So is MAS Going to fail? Better question ...is hell going to freeze over? The government of the day with Thai Air to the north and Sing Air to the south would never let it happen. Losing face in this part of the world would destroy the government that does let it happen. All 3 are backed by federal government money and are the jewels that the rest of the world recognize.
Now for some numbers: 65+ Billion Ringget... 2013 26 million tourists... same year ...that's roughly 2500Rm per tourist left behind. The Malaysian government owns 75% of MAS ...loses money on MAS...but makes money off every sorry tourist ass riding on MAS. Money out of one pocket but money falling into the other. So...its going to be more lipstick for the pig...gussy the 75 year old broad up a bit...maybe put her on a diet...and try to hide the Pork...'cause its non-halal...but carry on...and everybody else can go fly a kite. :p |

Suggest you reread what I said and then what you said. I surely cannot see any connection. :sad: I spend 4 months of every year in Malaysia, have done so for the past 20 years and have done many-many flights on MAS. In my estimation they offer as good or better than any in the world. Someone asked the question - I answered it. I just suspect the present government does not see the money losing situation at MAS in the same light as others do. |
