DC8 ENg AIR STARTER Noises
As a boy I was intrigued with the sound the engines or the
DC8. would make. Equipped with either Pratt and Witny'jd9 or General Electirc eneinges, Anyway they use the air start motors. AS the airstart gets underway pone could hear the various howl being emitted from the start motor. Mechanics called it the "High Low" system;. Always fascinated. As a Boy I would think that the aircraft was getting excited because is was about to fly. Each airstart unit would wind up to a crscending howl. |
What's the current status ? Still present (parked?)...?

It really is a pretty aircraft and would be a hoot to fly. I am sure it was the one we were seeing in Port Moresby about a year ago. I guess it was parked there to avooid parking fees.

getting it right
XPT,
you can't have illegal refugees. You can have illegal immigrants. You can have legitimate refugees. Also, you can have asylum seekers who are eventually sorted out to be either legitimate refugees or illegal immigrants. You have mixed up the terms, plain and clear. |
grounded?
OB-2059-P is grounded.
Don't worry a new one comes to Aussieland Australia's Heavylift Cargo to source another DC 8 freighter - ch-aviation.com. Has Nick L. moved to Ostend? Hope he locks his office doors during his absence. |
BTW, where is the DC-8 registered, any chance it is VH? It is on the US register. Tootle pip!! |
touche, maybe the new changes will help
|
