its the "100 A 320's for Jetstar Asia" that will break the company. Either the deposits are lost or they are sold at rock bottom prices.

Acute Instinct 26th Feb 2014 23:53

Chocks Away 26th Feb 2014 23:53

Amen Ballsdeep!
It also makes me sick to see "the two Ronnies" (Albanese & Shorten) get straight on TV and try and go point scoring! You're a bloody disgrace, you two AND you have very short memories!:ugh:
Shame on you channel 2/ABC for giving them the time of day!

Qantas internal documents says 15% jobs going | Plane Talking

Most of the Qantas staff to lose their jobs will be gone this year, but the internal document circulating today is adding to employee anxiety by indicating that exactly who is going and from where hasn’t yet been finalised. It says the job losses will amount to 15% of its work force.
(great work environment for the staff)

Joe where are you? This is the most unprofessional announcement day I have ever seen.... mixed messages everywhere, ASX, ASIC, wake up, Joyce is unstable! a mad man who is laughing at us because he is getting away with it.. Come on Australia..

Some of the most logical words to come from GT's mouth on sky news a short time ago.

Indeed! The "restructure of the A320-200 order book" reference needs a lot of questions asked. Are we talking the A320 NEO's here? What is that really all about? Sounds very messy and costly.

Lots of questions and NOT AJ's finest hour. In all honesty, a tougher slash and burn would have left Joyce with more credibility. Or: an announcement to aggressively replace all 747's and 767's with 777's, say, (well, that was never going to happen, obviously) would have given Joyce a boost. No, this "plan" is pretty much more of the same. Kick the tin-can down the dusty track a bit more.

Hence the share market reaction. And it means Joyce's time IS up. Watch that space, I reckon!

Ida down 27th Feb 2014 00:21

So right Chocks Away, those two turkeys, were a disgrace. Using the distress of the staff, to gain political gain. And whats with Sheldon suggesting the staff walk? I hope it is only a reaction to the news. That is what Joyce hoping for.

The head of the ACTU????

I hereby begin the process of escalating Mr Steve Purvinas to the head of the ACTU. This man is beyond reproach, make it happen........

stiffwing 27th Feb 2014 00:33

He didn't do the press conference at Mascot due to security issues there...
He would have been strung up

VH-Cheer Up 27th Feb 2014 00:43

It seems like AJ is trying to be more objectionable and unlikeable than his erstwhile role model MO'L in the same way - by treating employees and customers like second class citizens.

They key difference: MO'L makes money for the shareholders. AJ doesn't.

Next?

Have a look at the cash flow statement.

Cash receipts from customers INCREASED $26m.

Cash flow from investing activities - looks like possibly $102m may have been paid out Jetstar Asia ventures.

All the union leaders responded well during their interviews. I thought David Oliver was exceptional.

Has anyone started the #fairgoforqantasworkers ?

SOPS 27th Feb 2014 01:21

So am I correct in thinking that Perth now has no international services provided by Qantas? It's a disgrace, and no Mr Joyce, I don't count bogan star flights.

to think he called for support from all sections of the company to sign here last year, after today's debacle people are still left up in the air with who is going to get the chop....

It's wrong and the little bloke is getting away with it.... after making so many obvious mistakes.... including the board... corporate Australia is sick
