I remember years back that fleet pay for QF SOs was proposed by management.
No fancy formula just all SOs on the 767 rate. Yeah right.
They want their cake and to eat it as well.

We went down the Fleet Pay route with the rejected EBA 8. Neither AIPA nor management would like to go down that path again.

FatMike, the pay rates are decided on relativities which began with the speed weight formula years ago but have since morphed into "efficiencies". By any measure the 787 generates efficiencies over the 767, hence should be paid at a higher rate.

Nope. The 747 rate was set by a Flight Crew Officers Industrial Tribunal decision ( I think Professor Joe Isaacs) well after the aircraft went into service. Next guess............

Hi Wayne,
I would have thought that basing the pay rate on a similar sized, similar capacity aircraft was a reasonable proposition, but I guess 'reasonable' isn't a word in your vocabulary.

Maybe you could enlighten us as to the methods used to determine the pay rates for the most recent new aircraft types (A330 and A380) and we can take it from there.

If the 787 comes to mainline pilots at all, then I'd better recheck those lotto numbers, because that's about the same probability.

If it came down to 767 v A330 rates as the deal breaker, would anybody be that stupid as to give it all away over that?

Not quite. He joined about 3 years after me. I flew with him when he was an F/O. I was one of the pilots who lost seniority as a result of the 1966 pilots strike.

Mike, I was not around for the 66 strike though I have spoken to some who were, I did not know that the introduction of the North American seniority system disadvantaged some people, had there been some type of integration

The reason I ask that.... and the delay that FM is currently experiencing answering that question may also be related to this reason, is that there is no QF pilot on either the Q or A list with a start date earlier than Jan 67, the month after the '66 strike ended.

Now, while you can lose seniority in various ways... a start date is a start date.:confused:

Kremin, yes .
Jackneville, Prior to the 66 strike,. the only integration was with BCPA in the 50s.
What happened to me and others, was that our names were at a certain position on the seniority list because of our previous experience prior to joining QF.
After the strike, when seniority decided everything, we dropped down the list to the position that date of joining dictated.
All in all although we didn't like it at the time, the gains outweighed the losses.

Sorry about the delay but some of us do have other lives (other than sitting on Prune all day).

Now I'm still waiting for you to tell us which QF fleet has its pay for pilots based on speed weight because it wasn't the B747 classic.
