Are we really hanging on that tight??

Too serious to enjoy an April Fool's joke?

Qantas pilots "raped"??!? That is a disgusting allegation. Just ask any rape victim, I'm sure they can highlight that what we are experiencing at Qantas is nothing like what they experienced.

Where has our professionalism gone? Get a grip. Yes, I don't like the direction the company is travelling either.

BUT, we still have a job (temporarily?), a skill, a life in a fairly liveable country.
If you feel THAT passionate about it, find someone else to work for (worried about seniority, take LWOP).

Come on guys & gals, let's be professionals & keep our heads up.

Ejector 1st Apr 2012 04:16

Is LWOP referring to Leave Without Pay or Life Without Parole ?
:D

bdcer 1st Apr 2012 04:59

Sorry Ejector, I should have specified which LWOP in my "sentence"....now I should be "locked up" for that one.

pistinaround 1st Apr 2012 09:29

out of interest when did QF last recruit and Tech crew ?

Dragun 1st Apr 2012 09:44

I believe the last external course was run in January, 2009.

CaptCloudbuster 1st Apr 2012 12:35

I felt it was on topic because it is the most convenient/easiest way for a QF S/O to actually GET promoted
Latest word on the street is 20 Commands coming up on the 737 in Perth Base:ok:

Get those LOP up to date...

Cheapest place to park excess crew. Look forward to minimum hours and minimum pay.

bdcer 2nd Apr 2012 01:11

Wow 20! Seems too many? Maybe 20 CAPT & FOs combined? Is your source reliable CCB?

aussie027 2nd Apr 2012 03:11

This an April fools joke right???

CaptCloudbuster 2nd Apr 2012 03:19

This rumour was sourced from a Perth Based line Capt. Probably as reliable as the TSV Refueller. Given the amount of projected expansion in fly in fly out it seems a possibility. Especially considering all the LWOP given to FOs and the short sighted nature of establishment planning.

Watch this space....

No, that would be the Virgin Australia Perth Base :}:8

Toruk Macto 2nd Apr 2012 05:02

These command slots open to the group?

Capt Kremin 2nd Apr 2012 05:04

Only if you are a J* pilot covered by the MOU.

Whilst this might be true, Fact is I spoke with a mate who is a Capt in PER, today. He is on 92:eek: Credit hours this month. Lots of assigned patterns to rescue operations.

CaptCloudbuster 13th Apr 2012 10:50

8 Commands and 8 FO slots advertised today for PER Base B737:cool:

Not true.

As the precedent has been set by all the other DEC's coming to oz in various forms, QF are going to offer DEC's on the 737 to further marginalise mainline. (and to save money...of course) They know AIPA are totally impotent now and short of a mass walkout (89 anyone) there is nothing anyone can do about it.

Everyone is focused on the demise of mainline. Keep an eye on shorthaul.

Apparently, there are heaps of blokes in HKG and the ME looking to come home and all have vast NG or bigger left seat time.

Interesting times.

Keg 14th Apr 2012 09:03

So let me get this straight, rather than alleviate an excess of F/Os and S/Os in some categories, QF is going to employ outsiders who will save them less than half a million per annum across 8 crew. It's cost them more in redundancies for those 8 crew than what they would supposedly save. :ugh:

Capt Kremin 14th Apr 2012 10:19

Sonny, I suspect that is a wind-up... particurlarly as the short haul EBA is up for negotiation this year and the slots have been advertised internally.

cynphil 14th Apr 2012 22:41

The 8 commands on the 737 are there to cover the retirements of the over 65's planned to occur in the next 6-12 months.....no increase in the planned flying!!!!!!!!!!!:ugh:
