I guess the question most on here are asking is, should Qantas be able to "artificially" create competition through the set up of subsidiaries?

Are they allowed to under current aviation and IR law - yes, sure can.

Should they be "allowed" to - well in my view that's as much a philosophical question that could be debated until the cows come home.

Does it make business sense - therein lies the key question yet to be answered with any great clarity or depth.
