Rishworth recruiting for Jetstar NZ

Got this email this morning:

Dear Craig

We are delighted to advise that we have today commenced recruiting A320 Line Captains and First Officers for Jetstar Airways Ltd (New Zealand).

We expect that this opportunity will be attractive for those pilots who currently live and work outside of Australasia and are considering returning for lifestyle/ family reasons, and those pilots considering changing fleet types - JetStar welcomes applications from non type rated pilots as well as those who have the A320 type rating.

Successful candidates MUST have the right to live and work in New Zealand (Australian passport holders are welcome to apply) and meet the minimum criteria outlined below.

As the aircraft are Australian registered, New Zealand ATPL holders will need to convert their licenses to Australian. This is a simple administrative process and we can provide advice around this.

Remuneration includes: Base payment, Sign-On Bonus, Retention bonus, Flight/Layover Allowances and Work Day Off Payments (all payments are in NZ$)

Base: New Zealand, Auckland (AKL) and Christchurch (CHC)

Term: Permanent

Please see the attached briefing documents for further details.

Hold, or be eligible to hold an Australian Class 1 Multi-Engine Command Instrument Rating
Current Class 1 Medical Certificate
ICAO Level 6 English Language proficiency

Due to the high level of interest we expect these positions will generate, regrettably, only those who meet the criteria above will receive a response.

Does this mean Jet* are outsourcing recruitment completely?
Are the sign on and retention bonuses already in place when Jetstar was recruiting or is this a Rishworth thing?

First year FO base salary equates to A$50,273 with NO super.

"Retention" bonus of about A$7,750 per annum.

A$66.50 per night when overnighting in Australia. That will get you 1 meal and 2 drinks.

Who are they kidding?

chickendrummer 13th Jul 2011 00:29

S2K,

The sign-on and retention bonuses were there. The sign-on bonus was $10,000 NZ for a type-rated Captain however and now they seem to be offering $30,000 NZ.

Struggling to find applicants perhaps?

CD.

Hahaha. That is a joke right? :D

What are you kidding? You can get a feed at Macca's for $10 bucks. That way you can definately afford 3 drinks...:}

mcgrath50 13th Jul 2011 00:59

Do those hours seem low as well? Especially for the captain's seat.

haughtney1 13th Jul 2011 01:00

Got the same email...:ugh:

Fired off the "you've got to be kidding for that package" reply

Metro man 13th Jul 2011 01:29

Before tax they're offering Captains a package which is marginally better than an F/O gets up here. After tax they'll be well behind.

A retirement job for someone too old/fed up of being overseas.:hmm:

framer 13th Jul 2011 01:31

heh heh, I replied as well, said I was tossing up between the F.O. job they were offering and one driving a van around auckland for a freight company like my mate Dave has as they both pay the same. ( I didn't tell them how much overtime he does to achieve that but I figure thats countered by the fact he just listens to talkback all day and never gets too stressed out)

clear to land 13th Jul 2011 06:47

Also replied saying that the CA package barely acceptable for an FO. Got a nice reply though-full marks for maintaining a sense of humour to the lady concerned :ok:

horserun 13th Jul 2011 06:54

Is Jetstar NZ still negotiating an EBA?
Are these guys strike breakers?

evyjet 13th Jul 2011 07:34

Bloody hell I hope they don't get any takers.

This occcupation is getting depressing!

The Pilots remuneration is worse than 15 years ago WITHOUT INFLATION!

What about the CEO's of this industry?? How are their pay packets compared to then??

:ugh::ugh::ugh:

Metro man 13th Jul 2011 07:58

Also replied saying that the CA package barely acceptable for an FO.
Just did the same. Can anyone else join us in sending a message ?:ok:

Ndicho Moja 13th Jul 2011 08:13

I have written back saying that the package was quite inadequate for CA and dreadful for FO.

VH-VIN 13th Jul 2011 08:19

They will get plenty of keen pilots apply as always. Even happy to pay for the rating as well I am sure.
These same pilots will grizzle like hell when they have been there a year just like everyone does how poor the conditions are!!! lets not blame the airlines, they are just making the most of the cheap labour because its available. Makes good business sense I suppose.
So many people I know will stand on their high horse and give these new guys a hard time but they did exactly the same thing a few years before.

The Kelpie 13th Jul 2011 08:49

Who will the desperate few be employed by, Jetstar Airways (New Zealand) or Rishworth?

Rishworth? - No different to the Jetstar Group Setup then!!

Guys, my money is on being employed by Rishworth as an agency being an arms length organization from jetstar themselves. Once seasonal fluctuations start emerging you will be surplus to requirements and spat out!

They just want to form a database of Airbus rated pilots who they can use and abuse at will!

More to Follow

Did no-one notice this little corker:

' A person will not be appointed unless Jetstar is satisfied that the person’s employment with Jetstar will at all times be subject only to those industrial agreements which bind Jetstar at the time it considers the person’s application.'

ie that's all your ever gonna get

apache 13th Jul 2011 10:42

so, once again, they would like EXPERIENCED pilots to fly AUSTRALIAN registered aircraft, based in NZ, on NZ money?

so, again, they are thumbing their nose at the senate inquiry, and the unions.

the money they are offering is akin to that offered in the contract which they promised that they would no longer offer.

yeah, let's trust these guys.

noip 13th Jul 2011 10:49

The money on offer for F/O positions is LESS than the average wage in Au.

My postie gets significantly more than this!

sent my obligatory disappointed email. Not that im going anywhere, but not going to let it slide that this is a **** deal. Of course those details will never be forwarded back to jetstar, as they cant upset the new client now can they...:=

oh well, interested to see if another "campaign" is sent through with an updated remuneration package. Something tells me that aint gonna happen.

Did anyone else notice the note about Pilot covering all expenses relating to licence and medicals etc. Jetstar only cover sim currency. That you forgo your retention bonus "with no timeframe" i.e forever, if your unlucky enough that your going to use jetstar as way to get an a320 endorsement. Also that once you agree to those terms there is no turning back and thaat your agreement is binding for the duration of your time at jetstar, i.e no future negotiations.

How i read it anyway. The only people i could see going for it are non endorsed eediots trying to make a jump up. goodluck...
