ok, i'll kick off with the 'slagging' and blame it on the cadets:E.

;)

blueloo 20th Feb 2008 00:22

I'll blame alan joyce's wife.

RUMBEAR 20th Feb 2008 00:26

Was it a Q400 or 100/200/300 series dash?

Dunno, i can't find anything more about it at the moment. Apparently it happened around 9pm last night.

I have a mate here who works on Q400's on weekends. He puckered when he saw this as well hehe.

I don't think Qantaslink has any 100's though.

flyhardmo 20th Feb 2008 00:51

Well on a positive note well done to the crew involved. I dont know all the details and wont speculate but if they seemed to circle the airport then they obviously did all they could with a successful outcome.

Congratulations :D

CityofFlight 20th Feb 2008 00:55

Can we just combine the SAS thread and blame it on the Swiss?:}

'scuse me...please continue...

WynSock 20th Feb 2008 01:08

Could be a few tricky questions to answer if it is a Q400, but then the SAS problems were not nose wheel related...

As lofty as the journalistic credentials of the Daily Tele are, something not quite right with the report.

RUMBEAR 20th Feb 2008 01:34

Agree about SAS however Air Nippon had a Q400 land with nose gear retracted in Japan last March.

Cheers

Yep they still do! although being replaced

SootyS 20th Feb 2008 01:50

Wynsock, I think you might be correct about the Telegraph article. According to SMH, they actually got the nose wheel down and "landed without incident"

nick charles 20th Feb 2008 02:38

Yet another example of pathetic journalism! The gear was down with three greens BEFORE the a/c experienced a hydraulic malfunction. The a/c still landed with ALL three gears in the down and locked positions.

WynSock 20th Feb 2008 02:39

Hang on a minute, is there a story here at all?

Eighteen passengers, nerve wracking blah blah...

(a) crew was forced to use a back-up system to lower its nose wheel before making an emergency landing.

or is it this one?

(b) their plane malfunctioned and was forced to make an emergency landing without its nose wheel.

or

(c) there is no story.

The Daily Telegraph / Courier Mail for Journalism at its finest.:hmm:

MASP 20th Feb 2008 02:47

There is also the media beat up technique in adding reference to a totally unrelated Qantas incident. Lucky the journalist didn't know that I recently avoided a bad landing in slipping on a piece of lettuce in a Qantas Club.

flying-spike 20th Feb 2008 04:05

or was the headline "QANTAS Heavy landings and Food Scare cause significant drops in passengers"

Dehavillanddriver 20th Feb 2008 04:17

There was a Q400 with its right hand engine cowl up in Rocky this morning

Mr. Hat 20th Feb 2008 04:24

its because of 1989 i think

Brian Abraham 20th Feb 2008 04:25

with its right hand engine cowl up
Pilot checking water level in radiator on pre flight.

powerstall 20th Feb 2008 04:28

seems like the Dash 8 has problems left and right.... after the problem with the main landing gear, now it's the nose... :ugh:

Well that's a bit unfair on the Swiss isn't it? You sure you don't mean the Swedes? ;)
