Merged: Qf cancels/delays flights out of Perth
767 - U/S... flight canned
743 - U/S... flight to mel canned 743 - U/S... Flight to syd canned Heard it was a chaotic scene this morning with almost 750 people stuck at the terminal. Pax were told all bags had gone to Sydney even though pax were sitting in the terminal at Per. Anyone know anything? |
QF's PR section must have an awful lot of staff employed these days. I think they would almost need a ratio of 1 to 1 to handle the reg complaints they will/are getting.
The mighty QF, main colour of QF (apart from white ,which is not a colour anyway)? RED, red means danger, beware in all fields !:bored: F |
750 eh?
not long before they work their way through all of Perth :} |
The end of the poor old Classic must be nigh.:(
|
Apparently the Sydney bound flight was canceled due to a "recurring issue of odour detected in the cabin" leaving stranded passengers to spend the night in Perth's domestic airport.
|
surely they should be able to pick up 4 or 5 used 744's on the market,
give them a quick spruce up (same ife as the 743) and let them loose |

surely they should be able to pick up 4 or 5 used 744's on the market, Aside from that there is no 747-400’s available for either sale / dry lease [except for two which need serious mod’s] only WET Lease / ACMI aircraft It’s the same as many regional’s in and around Australia are looking for Dash 8’s -100/200/300 series but it’s the same again the only ones that are on the market are earlier models with no APU / mid life engines and avionics. These sellers know that and are commanding high prices with a -100 in the low 30’s msn attracting a price of US$3.25mill, with no APU and engines / avionics timed out. |
Does anyone know if some of the -400's will be used to relace the classics when the Dugong arrives? Or will there still be a shortage of airframes for some time to come after that?

Jetstar to the rescue, yet again!!!
I hear that Jetstar will start operations to the West coast from ALL east coast cities by the end of April.
The Qantas product is grossly overrated and outdated. Time for a fresh start, enthusiastic young cabin crew (I'm sick of flying with my nanna!!) and NEW aircraft. |
Bob - even if its a new plane, if it isnt looked after, it will still break down.
QFs planes may be old and crusty, but if they are given some "lovin" they will be fine. As for QFs crusty grannies.....well yes...true....:E - but think of the things they could teach you..... |

Is anyone else sick to death hearing about how Jetstar is going to take over the universe? I feel the Jetstar product only appeals to the Bogan in some of us!!

I wouldn't like any teeth near my steak.
|
Guys i think you are all out of line with regards to the "grannies" comments. Dont get me wrong, i like a nice young FA to look at, but one day she will get older. What are you ment to do??? Fire her because she ages like everone else. As far as I am concerned QF do the right thing by keeping the FA's that have worked hard and still continue to do so. Just imagine that it was a relative or friend of yours that got treated or spoke about like that. Not nice!!!!:=
|
If they are grannies at least you know they r#*t.;)
Also, I must say I don't mind to the odd milf!!:E |
Little bit of thread drift here me thinketh...
Wrong website altogether if you wanna see milf's!! |
"What are you ment to do??? Fire her because she ages like everone else."
My understanding is they do the next best thing in Singapore and Dragonair. Needless to say, no old (or fat) chicks! b. |

Oh joy! Go from an aircraft that can't climb well to an aircraft that can neither climb well or descend quickly! Yippeee!!!!
|
given that most 743 flights ex perth are full, just how is an a332 gonna replace it
|
Probably by using 2 A332s for each B743
|
Probably not a bad idea GB, more frequency on this market will make it more appealing. Looking at the 743's am Mel-Per and Syd-Per could be replaced by say, 7:30am and an 8:30/9am flight.:oh:
|
Regarding the comments about QF cabin crew being grannies.....well.....every time I go to work and have shorthaul crew......they are all pretty young and attractive to me. But then again...it's like most things on Pprune....people just keep repeating what others have said without actually having some some substance to their comments.

Spot on Tempo.
Plenty of hot hosties in QF, particularly shorthaul. Plenty of average hosties in VB. Big deal.:hmm: Sorry about the thread drift guys. |

Ahhh... the eternally young and gorgeous Clara... once my bargirl when she was a Law Student... graduated from Law but joined QF CC. Found her working Business Class (Short Haul) one flight from MEL to PER.
What were the lyrics to that song... "absolutely perfect" :) |
Besides....its probably a good thing these aircraft broke down.....we dont really need anymore cashed up bogans from perth descending on our lovely eastern states :)
|
What sort of fish you hoping to catch with that last post Tempo??

With the 2 leased 332s due for QF SH possibly going to JQ to cover the late arriving 787s, as Going Boeing has suggested, surely this will create some serious planning issues for QF???
There can't be any spare 744s available due to the additional BNE-LAX services and new Santiago(?) flights on the radar... and the other new 332s are all being (or will be) utilised on BOM, NRT and AKL-LAX routes. So when the classics go mid and late this year, what are QF going to replace them with if JQ get the last 2 332s? Surely JQ might have to miss out for once? Or will 76's be used, and other traffic re-assigned to 737s? *I actually had a friend who went through a similar ordeal at SYD DOM a few weeks ago... 743 to PER boarded... then disembarked... then boarded again... finally canned! Seems to be a regular enough occurance to warrant action?:E GB? Keg? Et al... |
Some 777s? :E
|
Oh joy! Go from an aircraft that can't climb well to an aircraft that can neither climb well or descend quickly! Yippeee!!!! Otherwise, expect the economy cruise climb profile that it's designed to fly. |

Quokka,
Maybe if you get into them while they taxi! :} In my experience, they are regularly on climb still at 150PH when everyone else is maintaining. If I have a 743 that needs to get above a preceding aircraft I am very hesitant to do it if they need to get above F350. A332's aren't quite as bad but still nothing like a 73 and a long, long way from a 76. And they descend like a slow flying brick. |
I guess that is why they pay you the big bucks though...;)
|
Yep .... nothing beats the 76' (said with tear in eye :{)
|
743s
Any idea where the classics will go, sold or beer cans ?
|
Get paid the big bucks? Yeah it's not bad but still not sure they pay us enough for those of us lucky enough to control out west.... The insanity of traffic sometimes leads me to think I was insane to transfer.... :hmm:
And Veruka, the day I control my last 76 flight will be a sad day..... :{ Will climb all the way to the moon in 10 seconds if you want and have had them do 360KIAS on the drop..... Ahhh! What an aircraft! |
