nah Dick is too busy travelling the world by Ford (silly boy):bored:. Come on Dick we need an update on the COG (Car On Ground ) parts to fix yr yanky heavy metal:)
CW:) |
GD just bugger off, go and find a seat next to your old pal JH and rot away like all the other old dithering farts that try to change things for the worse but inevitably fail.
|
The best we can hope for is Cosgrove. Whilst he is not a experienced big town ender, he fully understands operational and safety issues, aviation concerns, and would probably not take to much bullcrap from beancounters. He has the background QF needs to get it back to its roots, and run properly with operational requirements at the head of the list. I think he would listen to the flight deck and hanger floor problems and communicate with staff. He was well respected as Chief of Staff, and came thru the army the hard way. A hard bloke but a fair bloke. He will do.
|
Given that Cosgrove was one of the board that unanimously recommended the APA deal then I don't know that he's yet learned to work out the bulldust from the real information. Nope, I don't want him as CEO.
|
Here's to hoping Borghetti is cast from the same mould as Gordon M. Bethune. Anybody with less skills/abilities than the ex Continental CEO need not apply(And that means YOU P.G. !!!!!!!) Dxion may well have made the company appear financially sound, but the deep-rooted cracks are now just appearing to show.
I look forward to seeing GD trying to get onto a rat tailed aircraft in retirement....me-thinks he'll only fly our one-world partners! M |
I am sure many will disagree, but the smartest and sharpest card in the pack is one Alan Joyce. Even though he is presiding over Jet*, he is simply firing the bullets made by others. He is undoubtedly the best internal candidate on offer. Some would even consider EGM of Engineering. :yuk::yuk:
On another front, would it be possible top draft Dick Smith to stand as a director at the next Board meeting? Dick would bring enormous business clout as well as a very deep understanding of operational issues. He would bring true independence to the Board and serve the shareholders and staff exceptionally well. |
B A Lert
The former Civil Aviation Authority Board member Dick Smith said cost-cutting was unlikely to affect flying safety, etc etc etc .... Now you want him running an airline. :{ |
I hear that John Howard and Peter Costello have nothing on their plates at the moment :E
Apart from Johnny going to the cricket but then again he could have a private box at the SCG in his contract I'm sure |
Cox doesn't want the job. I have to say I wouldn't be unhappy if Joyce got it - he is the best internal candidate
|
Please, a little fella more of spin than substance..We really need more of that as the mainline falls apart....
|
New Board member.....
Ray Williams just got out of jail ....... What about him???
:sad::sad::sad: |
He'd fit in :yuk:
|
Gordon Bethune.
Go and read "From Worst to First" He is the guy..He has the track record, he turned around an airline that had exactly the same sort of things done to it that Dixon is doing to us. He also had credibility, noone alluded to above has any aviation credilbility. Mr.Bethune worked for Boeing, was an engineer and type rated pilot on B757/767. |
How about engineerings old friend Trevor Crabtree.
Maybe even Gary Toomey he already has QF experience and the knowledge of how to run airlines into the ground, I would think he is the perfect successor to GD |
RedTBar,
If one is to believe the SMH, Costello will soon be up in the Macquarie Bank ivory tower. Which, given their penchant for grabbing aviation-related assets worldwide, will probably mean that he'll be running QF at some stage anyway... :hmm: |
I consider Gary Toomey would be an exellent CEO !
He had considerable experience within the Qantas group and was evidently well regarded as the person who put Qantas into the good financial position it now enjoys. Anyone who looks at the demise of Ansett in an objective way will realise that Gary Toomey was sold the greatest dummy ever, by a rapacious News Ltd and an incompetent AIR NZ.:* Role on........ |
Keg, the whole bloody lot of them voted to flog QF off. Can someone tell me why you can sell a airline knowing full well it is undervalued, and you are cheating the shareholders, but hey, thats ok, cause we didn't flog it, what tha!!! Why have not the ACCC asked Dixon, Jackson "what the F$#% did you think you are doing fleecing the shareholders??? it has me beaten.
|
DEFCON4,
Thanks for having the granite to say what we've all been thinking since '92, and this situation is not only at the top end. We inherited a basketcase from top to bottom. |
Who ever it is
They better realise that the 787's should be going to mainline first and then some go to JQ later on, instead of screwing the prem pax for a couple more years and getting stuck with the ratty old 767's! Geoff Dixon is an utter ********, sure hes made money for the company but his ethics and the way he runs the business sucks. And anyway it is a customer service business, that should be their priortiy with safety. Then money should be down the list after staff morale etc etc. Id run the company anyday! give me 100k, nice V8 and a mansion overlooking Sydney harbour and ill do it :) |
Gary Toomey is perhaps economical with the truth. I caught him out publicly during the AN767 fiasco. He continued insisting (on public radio) that there were "no problems" when it was obvious to anyone who had ever worked for an airline that they were in deep ****.
He'll fit right in at Qantas.. |
