QF A330 Tow Bar Wreck!

I noticed that the latest O/S configured 330 has been damaged in a towing incident. I guess thats what happens with a 767 tow bar. Crikey!!!

Worlds best practice???

fly tiges 22nd Sep 2004 18:42

Just wondering what the connection is with Jetstar and the Airbus A330, presuming they haven't already upgraded from the A320???

Pimp Daddy 22nd Sep 2004 18:47

Is this another towing accident or the one that happened to QPF end of June :rolleyes:

Instead of slinging off, perhaps the correct approach would be to concede that this could happen to any of us, and perhaps we could all learn a lesson here.

Kanga 767, DM's one of those people from 89 that has resurfaced in Australian Aviation as a well spring, but in fact he gets paid less now than what he was fighting for in 89, so, you wouldn't expect him to be well rounded enough to concede that mainline are better than his Jetstar bum chums.

I have some top photos of this one

Capt. J 23rd Sep 2004 11:41

HGW, do you mind sharing the photos? :O

blueloo 23rd Sep 2004 14:38

Can you link/post the pics so we can all have a gawk :)

HotDog 23rd Sep 2004 23:09

Thanks for letting me know as the picture came up on my screen. Try this link, it should work. Sorry about the ads on top, can't get rid of them.

Quite right, Pete. DM, if QF were interested in 'worlds best practice', they wouldn't have given you fools at Jetclown jobs, now would they?

Now take your stupid worthless posts and shove them quietly where the sun doesnt shine.

Douglas Mcdonnell 23rd Sep 2004 23:24

Come on now kids. Taking yourselves a bit to seriously now arent we. Pete, you back. Funny how reptiles always surface for air. Good to see you havent lost your sense of humour little matey.

quim and Pete,

Cut it out, this thread is about an inaproppriate towbar and a new aircraft, it is difficult to see the 89 connection.

It's just a crying shame to see something as beautiful as that dinged, before it gets to do its thing.:{

Keg 24th Sep 2004 06:07

Strewth, what a shocker. Talk about a mangled engine!!

Be interesting to read the investigation on this one when it is finished.

Don't hold your breath waiting!!

Pimp Daddy 24th Sep 2004 08:15

So did we decide if there was another incident, or is it just a case of "welcome to last month" ?

The pic posted was of the bingle in Melbourne in June

HotDog 24th Sep 2004 12:26

It was in June but the pictures only surfaced in the last couple of days. Very expensive but not nearly as bad as the retrofit bill for the conversion to intercontinental requirements. Well done QF bean counters.

Douglas Mcdonnell, FYI the QF B767 tow bars also fit the A330. Having had a tow bar pin shear on me while towing one of these beasts, I can tell you it's not a very good feeling. Everything sort of slows down but moves quickley at the same time & your unable to do anything except yell 'brakes on!' It's certainly not something I expected to happen on a lazy tow...:{
