Eagle Minimums
 
As far as I'm aware, Eagle have been continualy interviewing for the past few months (and will continue to do so as long as NZ and CX keep up the hiring). Last I heard, the realistic criteria were around 1500 TT, 200+ multi, with a few exceptions.

There are many of us hovering just over the 1000 hr mark, with a decent amount of multi - how many current eagle applicants have significantly more than this? And does anyone (in the know) think we (low timers) are likely to get a shot in the near future, or will we have to wait a bit longer 'till we have more competitive figures? Some people seem to think 300 hrs, ATPLs and a MEIR will be enough soon - I think this is propaganda (although it has happened before!)

It would be great if recently interviewed pilots, or those with up-coming interviews could post their flight times at last update (Total, Multi, Actual I/F, Night).

Ive been keen for an interview for a while, have over 300 multi, quite alot of IF and 135 op experience +ATPLs...but just short of the 1000 tt requirement.I know I would make a great captain down the track..
Trickling along with part time twin flying gets a bit tedious.I want to work for eagle but if someone else decides to 'snap me up first' then thats the way the cookie will crumble.On the other hand I cant see anything wrong with Insurance requirments.... most pilots get a little restless every now and then...

Chaps,

It would pay not to get inpaitient about getting an interview. A year ago a 1000 hours multi was the general requirement.

Times do change however ;)

Apparently 1500TT is still what they like but the general lately has been around 1200 TT with 300 ME, some have got in with less ME and more TT but those figures are about correct.

I would suggest while you wait you bang out the ATPL's and your BGT so when your time comes (whatever company it is) you'll be grinning and can just cruise after your line training is done.

Stick with it your time will come, these are good times as far as hiring goes :ok:

I would suggest that most eligable candidates would have ATPLs and I thought you needed a BGT to even apply? I'm sure, being in our position a while ago, you know it's hard not to get impatient;) Noone wants to miss the boat!

Only mildly curious. Certainly have no intentions of applying with them, whoever they are. Too well established in my comfort zone at present.

Fair enough. Eagle Airways is one of the three Air NZ Link airlines (along with Mount Cook Airlines and Air Nelson), they operate Ratheon (Beech) 1900Ds.

To answer some of your questions, I know of a couple of people who have around the 2200 TT & 1300 multi (mostly PIC) plus several ATPL's and they have yet to hear anything from Eagle.

Saying that, I also know of a lot of people in the same boat as you, around the 1000 TT mark with enough multi to get a command at Origin. So it looks as though the minima's of 300 multi, may be the bench mark for a bit longer but who knows about the TT requirements.

If it makes you feel any better, it sounds as though all bar 1 of the guys off the Origin J31 course have either started or been offered jobs by other airlines. So, they may be calling again soon, looking for a new bunch of newbies and they have no minimum requriements.

Wouldn't say I'm in the know with Origin.

In fact I wouldn't think anybody, other than those in Origin management (and only a few of them) know how they choose their pilots.

The last groundcourse had a bunch of guys all with well over 1000 hrs and 300 + multi. However in the past they have had people with as little as 650 TT and 25 multi.

I think it is more a case of who you know, and how much you are willing to grease, make calls, throw bags, check in pax etc

Its always interesting how somebody gets onto a threed about EAG or ORG ect and starts slagging them off.

Whatever your problems are incident report I suggest you keep them to yourself as nobody and I mean nobody cares or likes winjers.

I think some people have forgot that sometimes making a phone call or taking the time out to go see a prospective employer can do wonders for your chances of getting that phone call.;)

incedentreport - if you don't care what Eagle's minimums are, how about not posting on the thread about Eagle Minimums!

Personally I have preferences, but I would be happy to work for any of NZs regional T/P operators. I can't understand this problem some people have with the interview process either. Many non-aviation corporations use similar HR selection processes. In saying that, I'm sure most of us know quite a few good people (and some not so good) who have missed out with Eagle.

At the end of the day, Eagle fly cool planes, and have the best rate of progression - I think a lot of the negative comments come from jealousy.

Just by chance, does anyone know when the next round of interviews are, and are the higher time, lower multi people that have been accepted in the last few rounds come from instructing positions or from GA multi jobs with operational experience.

Splat, how about this; hire a suit for one day go to nelson and have a friendly chat with Mike and Neil for 40 mins then get your money back for that suit at almost twice the rate as eagle.

Cloud cutter, why don't you save the "I love the Eagle interview process" palava until you have been through it!! Once you have come through sucessfully and still love it then feel free to let us know.

righto, more about those Eagle minimums then...........

belowMDA, I’ll thank you not to put words in my mouth. I didn’t say I love the interview process, I said it is any companies right to use whatever process they see fit, to choose appropriate staff. If/when I’m given a shot, I am quite prepared not to get through – If I don’t it will not be the interview at fault, but the fact that I don’t fit the profile – simple as that. If people don’t like it, they are quite free not to apply.

Is everyone so egocentric that it’s automatically the interview's fault when they miss out? That’s like blaming the testing officer when you fail a flight test, or blaming ASL for making ATPL exams too difficult.

Lets not get into sallary issues aye ;)

Point is that it is a small amount of money to lay out to get a job, and I'm sure that like most when you start toget around the correct hours for an interview you start putting some coin aside for a suit. :ok:
