Name that airline competion

Come on guys an girls....lets have some fun. With the imminent official announcement from QF about their LCC a/c type (gee wizz...I can't wait), I wonder if naming their new venture will also be a part of it - or will that be drawn out for yet more intrigue(?) and another fun, exciting announcement further down the track (oups, that line sounds like someone else talking). To start y'all thinking (although I'd quite like Skimpy to be selected) how about Shaft (in line with the thinking behind their current flagship rego .....EBA). Or "Geoff" (nah...., not really - it ain't three letters like TED. The hosties could be called Dixie Chicks though.) Or "STPO" (Amercian for STOP) and the antithesis to "GO" which we all know went top down/bottoms up. As for a suggestion for a prize to the winning entry, how about two weeks unpaid leave shovelling cement/carrying bricks on some sort of deserted island off the QLD coast. You get the drift......I look forward to reading all your inspirational replies...!

Sheep Guts 19th Nov 2003 05:04

Hey why dont they call "TAB air".
They could do a deal with the TAB and have Sky Sports and the races on the TV screens live. Also have a punters Bar in the back and possible bikini shows in the back for bored punters on their last buck. Make the fares reall cheap, but make up the difference with the Bookies box takings . What ya think? :ok:

I think im on to something. Hey if theres "Hooters Air". Maybe we could have " Crazy Horse Airlines". Ofcourse the theme may not suit all genders, Im sure theyd get a following. Id definitely pay 60 bucks to get in :ok: :E :E

Kanga767 19th Nov 2003 06:04

Lets see. Looking at other LCC names, they're catchy one-word titles. "Go", "Buzz" etc

What we need is something Australian and vaguely suggestive of Women.

I know,

"Barbie"

Buster Hyman 19th Nov 2003 06:08

SLAGIATT!!!!

:hmm:

SydGirl 19th Nov 2003 10:57

What about..

BOUNCE

Vaguely QF, Vaguely suggestive, and as stupid as all the other choices.

SG
:)

Mork from Ork 19th Nov 2003 12:24

What about "crikey", "ansett reloaded" or "compass 3 (the rise of the machines)"?

AirNoServicesAustralia 19th Nov 2003 16:52

Kanga 767, are you really Australian??? Barbie, is as american a name as you can get, if you were to follow your guidelines there is only one option for a name and that would have to be,

SHEILA
:E

Kanga767 19th Nov 2003 17:28

.....Might go throw some snags on the Shiela....:}

AND as fiercely Northern Territorian as I am, I don't want the first aircraft named after some queensland crocodile dude, I want the first aircraft named "Amanda V"

Eurocap 20th Nov 2003 03:38

How about

"MATE "

which stands for

"Merely an Australian Transport Enterprise"

or

"BLASTAIR"

which stands for

"Black Stump Airlines"

or

"WOMBATAIR"

which stands for

'The Airline that digs itself a hole"

Just a thought!

;) ;)

RaTa 20th Nov 2003 03:59

I must admit I like Eurocap's "Wombatair", it has that true dinky die ring about it.....where employement conditions in aviation are about to be burried in a hole!

wessex19 20th Nov 2003 06:53

what about "Choice-bro Airlines" , we could have "hey cuz class" for economy with an in-flight centre-link processing service to make that arrival as smooth as possible!!! Business/ first could be called, "ruch over the duch" with Speights flowing like water!!!
:ok:

Buster Hyman 20th Nov 2003 08:07

The great unwashed airlines!

Feral Air!

Moccassins aviation?

You see where I'm going don't you?

gameboy1971 20th Nov 2003 08:29

How about Boganair?

The_Cutest_of_Borg 20th Nov 2003 08:34

Up till last week.. one of the six finalists for a name was "Bloody Cheap Airlines"

..and may god have mercy on us all...

Pinky the pilot 20th Nov 2003 09:30

What about Ppruneair..'we'll get you moving..':E

Well, that's just about as ridiculous as I could think up given the circumstances!!

You only live twice. Once when
you're born. Once when
you've looked death in the face.

AirNoServicesAustralia 20th Nov 2003 11:01

What about DICK SMITH AIRWAYS, in honour of the man who seems to call all the shots in Oz aviation. And the airline could be ran based on his good old affordable safety, that is only service the aircraft when something breaks, water down the fuel, and get low hour GA pilots to fly the aircraft.

Buster Hyman 20th Nov 2003 11:31

OUCH!

That'll get back!!! :ouch:

halfhardt-6 20th Nov 2003 13:02

What about, "Bag handlers to get more than pilots airways"!

hei yu 20th Nov 2003 14:06

How about "KOALA BARE"

chief wiggum 20th Nov 2003 18:03

surprised they aren't trying to steal VB's thunder and call themselves "QANTAS BLUE".

Maybe even TAA will get another guernsey ?

or what about "MONOPOLY AIR" ?

Uncle Festa 20th Nov 2003 18:50

How about "De Flower Airlines"?

After all the competition is a bunch of low cost Virgins!!!

:E :E ;)

Boomerang 20th Nov 2003 19:57

What about Boomerang ;)

halas 20th Nov 2003 21:58

Keeping with the short'n'sweet LCC name theme...

ROO

Then if ever they hook up with United's new LCC it would be...

ROOTED!

halas

Cap10 Caveman 21st Nov 2003 08:18

I like Boomerang's Boomerang - the airline you'll always choose to come back with.

Australia2 22nd Nov 2003 00:57

How do you think "Qantas Light" would go against VB ? Thinking about it, in Oz probably not real well.

Wirraway 22nd Nov 2003 07:26

How about

"GOWALLABIES.COM.AU"

Wirraway

Buster Hyman 26th Nov 2003 11:10

Here's the skinny...

I have "heard" that the names Hop & Jump are presently before the board!!! ;)

Wirraway 26th Nov 2003 11:14

One wag on CNBC said to put a cat amongst the pigeons they
should call it "TrueBlue"

Wirraway

nickmelb 26th Nov 2003 12:02

....

flyingfox 26th Nov 2003 13:11

Kanga767 26th Nov 2003 15:05

Poto 26th Nov 2003 18:07

Nickmelb,

"Skank Air" :D :D That is pure Gold!

True on so many levels:E

Chilli Muscle 26th Nov 2003 18:48

What about "Hopper Wartoo Airways" . Would just need the slogan and its Up Up and away!.

Fred Basset 26th Nov 2003 19:34

I am thinking

Quick, similiar to all those other dumb names that airlines are using at the moment.

Maybe Qantas will take the boring option and use

TAA.

Buster Hyman 26th Nov 2003 20:05

Hmmm...perhaps Hop & Jump were smokies.....:hmm: ...maybe it's SKIP?

I look forward to seeing both of the new colour schemes.

E.P. 26th Nov 2003 20:55

Well I did bring you SKIMPY however.....

I like "QBLUE".............

I don't mind "OPTIMUM"..............

However, I just luuvvvrrree............................

"QUANTUM" :cool: :cool: :cool: :cool:

I can hear the songs as we type.......

"Hey QBLUE, it's me who's flyin' yooooouuuu...........hey QBLUE....."

"QUANTUM..........leap forward with Q rewards and no Q's asked!!"

Damn! Big Al, you want me to do the adverts????????????:D :D

tobzalp 27th Nov 2003 04:19

I drop the hint again. Stand by for Friday to hear an announcement for a new Charter operation using jet type planes. BEST PRICE GUARANTEED I reckon.

Buster Hyman 27th Nov 2003 05:38

How's the slogan go offchocks? There's nothing like a quick....

Offchocks 27th Nov 2003 05:54

"Quick Route Airlines" ...."Quickie" for short! :p

leemo 27th Nov 2003 07:28
