Yes they do.
You'll find them in Qantas, Qantaslink, Virgin Blue, National Jet and other areas too.
I personally know of quite a few pilots in the first three companies that were not born in Australia.

......well I know for a fact that Air New Zealand 'will never employ an Australian for the flight-deck'.
Never has, never will!
A very good example of the lovely attitude of the Kiwi .... mindful that there are pleaty of Kiwoks smugly polling Aussie jets

Didn't some overseas pilots get visas fairly readily a few years ago? Was that a one-off or is the "Open Door" policya fixture?
If those pilots are still in Australia maybe the government should reconsider their status (perhaps intern them for a while as economic refugees-is the Port Hedland camp still open?) to allow home-grown pilots a few additional jobs.

Look, I think it's a beautiful thing to share our seats with the world ....and with all our unemployment too ....but the other children just don't wanna share their toys with us.

I think you'll find that Air NZ do have at least 1 "Ozzie" from Oz on the flight deck. Ozzie is a WA boy(Kiwi dad) that was in Darwin in the '80s; last heard of living in Christchurch; I belive he's still with them.

'Nolights essential3" - Your claim to "know for a fact" that ANZ never has/never will hire an Australian for the Flight Deck is bad enough in that it is plain wrong, but it is worse that you use this as an excuse to bad mouth ANZ and Kiwis. FACT ! - x 4 767 F/O's, x 1 767 Captain born in Australia, x1 737 F/O, and contract Aussie SIM Instructors for the B737, A320, and formerly for the B744 - steady ongoing hiring at the moment and any appropriately qualified Australians (with the chip removed) will be considered on their merits.
Ignorant and provactive posts like yours however don't help the case for your fine nation's pilots in obtaining employment outside Australia - did you get turned down?

Air NZ have taken a few South Africans who had been in the country all of 5 minutes too. I've mentioned it before but it is more endemic of the backwards nature of recruitment in Air NZ. But then, any kiwi who goes overseas and flies 737s or regional jets and then tries to return is branded some kind of traitor. Look at the Air Nelson requirements, off your 737 command you'd have to do a year flying GA in a Chieftain before you have really earned your wings and can grace the right seat of a Saab with youre presence. How does that work?

STILL ALBATROSS - Airline hiring in general is more about who you are/the sort of person you are than about your hours and how/where/on what type you acquired them, by-enlarge. Someone who has acquired Jet Command time but who is an a.s.h.l.e is likely to be passed over by a "good sort" of guy/gal who has shown a bit of dedication and hard work in GA, even if no jet time etc -

Ok nzer, explain why Air NZ gave interviews to all the out of work Ansett NZ pilots when plenty of them didn't have CV's in with Air NZ and didn't want a job with them and didn't meet the minimum requirements. And yet Air Nelson had a big bunch of guys that had minimum 2-4000 hours on Saabs and met all other requirements and didn't get a chance as a result.

Still Albatross - As to your first assertion, ie :
"......Air NZ gave interviews to all the out of work Ansett NZ pilots when plenty of them didn't have CV's in with Air NZ and didn't want a job with them and didn't meet the minimum requirements....."
This is just outright incorrect, in respect of every particular...
Interviews were NOT given to ALL "out of work Ansett NZ pilots".
The only avenue by which an interview can be obtained is via CV/Application.
Whether people wanted jobs with ANZ or not is conjecture and unverifiable in fact.
"..and didn't meet the minimum requirements".
I doubt that many of the "out of work Ansett NZ pilots" did not have 1500 hours and an ATPL/all ATPL subjects - although it is remotely possible.
"And yet Air Nelson had a big bunch of guys that had minimum 2-4000 hours on Saabs and met all other requirements and didn't get a chance as a result"
The "and yet" implies you see a causal connection between your asertions about Ansett NZ pilots and hring with Air NSN - which I am not able to detect - however, se my previous post regarding hours v suitability. One does not necessarily mean the other.
