Unhappy Qantas Parking Aircraft

The lattest rumour doing the rounds at QF would seem to indicate Qantas has not been immune from the latest crisis to hit the aviation world. It would seem the current plan is to park 2 classic 747's and 6 767-300's. This will certainly put more pressure on pilot numbers as they attempt to artificially reduce crew numbers through assigned leave and defered aircraft deliveries.

Buckray the lastest rumour i heard was that they were going to get rid of the 6 767-200's not the 300's.

Hardly rumours, Qantas has been upfront with press releases regarding this issue, just read the statements on the Qantas webpage

Geoff Dixon appeared on a few business-type TV shows yesterday (Sunday) morning.

The main points were that 2 Classic 747s would be "parked" and that 7 767s would be withdrawn. I believe that the 767 situation will be managed by "parking" 7 767-300s and flying out the remaining hours on the 767-200s. As the 200s run out of hours they will be retired and the 300s will be brought back into service.
The "Q recruiting" thread has further discussion on this subject.

To show how fluid the situation is - I work for the Company, and yet this was the first time that I had heard such specific information.
