Modern Thoughts For Modern Progessive Thinkers!

Just for something different, I would like to read about the attributes and attitudes of others that does not involve all this continual diatribe and vacuous comment on yesteryear(89 not included), on why things won't work, on the (so called) profound wisdom of psuedo intellectuals.

Is it just me or are we spiraling out of control into the black hole of intellectual oblivion? Ozzies without doubt are the world champions at this sort of mind numbing repugnance and, without fear or favour we are determined to continue on our dillusional, harum scarum, testosterone tube of testicular madness ways.

Now that the $hite is off my liver can anyone contribute something a little more averse to human consuption. Some positivity re the future, where things are going, not how bad things have been. It's not looking through rose coloured glasses (i think), it's more to do with putting a bit more positive slant on our industry so that we and others may think we actually do enjoy ourselves from time to time.

Time to make a deposit.
SB

Fine thoughts SB however dear old Oz has 2 MAJOR problems which affect us all:

One is "square wheel syndrome" whereby we continually re-invent the wheel and come up with a square one - the mobile phone and digital TV debarcle to name a few.

The other is the popular sport of ankle lopping, whereby a machete is is hacked through the ankles to bring everybody down to size AKA "tall poppy syndrome"

With all our faults,
It's still the best place on the planet to live.

With tall poppies of the calibre of Adler, Rivkin, Skase, Bond, Elliot, Hollingsworth, Lucas ... is it any wonder.

Tall poppies who do the right thing don't get chopped down.

Farq2 I agree that Oz is by far the best place to live. No argument there. It would be nice however if we could put a choke hold on some of the perennial whingers in here. No mattter what is said there appears to be a problem for some. It must be my time of the month!

As one who left the US 20 years ago, I would like to say that the most positive thing we could do in Australia is to cast a jaundices eye on things American. I left the place but failed to escape it.

Lets be veeeery careful about following little Johnie into a free trade agreement. It will not benefit the majority of working Australians.

Just my humble but well informed intelligent and educated opinion

I'd be more than happy Sperm to contribute something "averse to human consuption"... only problem is, I don't have a clue what you're on about!

Mind you, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed!

Probably objectionable statements by me but:

"With tall poppies of the calibre of Adler, Rivkin, Skase, Bond, Elliot, Hollingsworth, Lucas ... is it any wonder."

Bond, at least made some good things happen for the benefit of the country eg Super Pit; and I'm not a real fan of his.

A major improvement would be removal of the defamation laws so that a lot of this would be known eg the GSM phones and bribes could not be hidden as a settlement of a defamation claim. Apart from anything else Danny and Woomera would sleep easier.

Danger

Kym, you need a Bex, cup of tea and a good lie down..You guys should spend some time away from the TV like me here in Vietnam. Then have a look at the total **** that is dished up on televsion in Oz, esp. advertising. It just makes me want to vomit over Ray Martins face...

Thumbs up

Deaf; Your comments re the defamation laws are spot on! As many individuals have found out to their cost you cannot even tell the truth at times without being hit with a lawsuit
Ralph the Bong; I have'nt watched commercial TV for years and would'nt have 'cable' in a fit! However your observations re adverts on the idiot box correspond with my opinions. Seems that the practice of 'dumbing down' is easier than trying to raise intellectual standards in more fields than one.
Sad really!

You only live twice. Once when
you're born. Once when
you've looked death in the face.

AH!!! A glimmer of hope.....people taking interest in what others THINK. We are battling a big demon these days by being told everywhich way to bleeding think.
I THINK the value system encouraged by the system SUX, but on an individual level there really are some staunch folk about. I love AUSTRALIA.

It would seem we need a version of "the Thinker" in the "Smilies"!

Tall Poppies and hermaphrodites aside......and at the risk of sounding somewhat blinkered and green.............

I doubt that anything is about to change in the Oz aviation industry, at least not while the no. of pax(i.e. pop.) remains at current levels and budding young pilots worthy of much better, continue to degrade and prostitute themselves.

At best; and in answer to SB's original post, I can only suggest that you make your own "luck" in this wretched business with your own personal, masochistic blend of optimism, perseverance and faith in one's self.

Hold your heads high guys & gals, Oz IS the best place in the world to live and our industry has many great mates with which to have a great many beers!

So Cheers people......I'm off to bask in the QLD sunshine while its the right time of the month!!!!!!
