1 x aircraft went u/s in HBA. Had to use substitue a/c all day. The plane went nowhere. That's all I know.

I was wondering about that, there was a 717 arriving at around 10:20pm and a departure shortly before that which is very unusual for Hobart I believe.

I heard one extra Boeing 717 flight ops MEL-HBA as QF8850 on Thrusday. This was the only extra flight I am aware of. There were no extra flights operated by Boeing 737-300/-400/-800 types as there was last time a Boeing 717 went u/s in HBA. They must have sourced the replacement Boeing 717 off another route.

Aircraft that operated extra service was VH-VQA. Ops QF1729 OOL-MEL 0620-0930 then scheduled to operate QF1732 MEL-OOL 1335-1435. FAs got dispensation to operate two sectors in between the rostered ones to HBA rtn. I did that pairing the next day and we all prayed we wouldn't have the HBA sectors tacked on! We didn't...

On another note why do they schedule 717s to sit in the ground for 4 hours at a time? Can't be all that econominal.

Ditzy,

After DJ increased to 4 x HB-ML flights, QF dropped 1 x 717 service HB-ML after the peak summer period (end on Jan). Although the schedules have been rejigged since, I think that now given the 717s have 1 less sector to operate, this
could be a reason for the 4 hour gap.

The early morning HBA-SYD flight was XXLD on 16/03, but there was an extra flight that departed HBA around 9pm.

Douglas -
Actually I put on a tight, sleeveless number and some shorts and caught some rays on the observation deck!

Also that extra flight ex HBA on the 16th was direct to NTL ferry flight. Was it VQG? That's what we picked up in the morning at NTL.
