b763 overweight landing question
Hypothetically speaking, of course, why would a b767 dump fuel for 30 odd minutes then still land a couple of tonne overweight? What is the dump rate?
No idea about the other questions but the dump rate using two dual pump units provide a jettison rate of approx 1200 KG per minute. So 30 mins is 36,000kgs....fuel tanks on the 300ER is 72,700kgs.

Surely it is safer to land a little closer to its max landing weight (145150 tonnes) than some 30 odd tonnes over max landing weight.
I cant imagine the brakes having much fun with the higher approach speeds and the increased weight. Furthermore the higher weights will result in some approach reference speeds being close to if not exceeding the flap limit speeds.

Fuel can only be dumped from the CWT, so a high ZFW plus wing tank fuel only can lead to not being able to dump below max landing weight. If we are referring to the other night they probably wanted the aircraft to be ready for a quick turn around (lower brake temperatures help) as well, so a compromise was reached!

Thanks Bankstown and others.
I'd initially thought it may have something to do with curfew dispensation conditions (in this entirely hypothetical occurance).
Still wouldn't have dumped in a racetrack.
