Joy flights

Thoughts on this proposition in Australia and NZ? EVA air using their hello kitty A330 for joy flights in Taiwan. 3hr flight, full Michelin meal service for both economy and business passengers, departing Taipei to cruise at FL200 and back to Taipei. Passengers paying a premium for the opportunity to just fly. Could see QF using some 737s, A330s and 787s depending on weekly demand. I would pay to go on such a flight just to scratch that itch.

Taiwan as of right now has 31 active Covid cases. In a population similar to Australia’s. So the risk of contracting Covid on a flight in Taiwan is low.
The risk in Australia is proportionally much higher.

Can’t imagine the demand would be high in this environment of rising unemployment and wealth destruction. People are struggling to hang on to their homes. A flight to nowhere wouldn’t have a lot of appeal to the majority.
With distancing it would be difficult for an airline to make money on those flights.

If I feel the need to scratch that itch, I ll reheat yesterday’s Uber eats, sit next to the running vacuum cleaner and enjoy. For that extra authenticity, I just need to glance up from my personal screen occasionally as there is no shortage of surly people going past me, trying very hard not to catch my attention.

Largesse of jobkeeper. Interesting comment. A lot of people swept up by current events rely on the largesse of jobkeeper to put food on the table.

A little more empathy wouldn’t go to waste.
And where in my post did I indicate I am using jobkeeper to order Uber eats.

You probably don’t wanna hear I’m earning more on jobkeeper + my secondary employment than my primary job then ?
